Marlon said, “I miss you. The top three of this year’s piano competition. The judges were my men. They said the items this year weren’t very good. I’ll send them to you.”
Yvonne said, “Alright.” She was also one of the best judges but she rarely did it. Her team would handle things like this.
Every year, Clusia held a piano competition but this year fewer people participated because most people went abroad for international competitions.
Marlon said, “The first place won mainly because of his family. Besides, the others are even worse. The second place is a pity though: the first half of the piece is mediocre and the latter half is shitty but the climax is good but too much! As for the third place, let’s not even talk about it.”
Yvonne said, “Okay, I’ll check it out.” Although she wasn’t a judge, she still wanted to find out at what level they were and how talented this year’s competitors were.
When she clicked open the audio file that Luca just sent her, she saw Samantha’s name. She thought, ‘Samantha got first place? This piece is mediocre.’ Then she clicked open the second place’s file. What a coincidence. It was Muriel’s! Then she found the piece sounded very familiar.
A wry smile flickered on Yvonne’s face. She shut down the computer, not interested in the competitors anymore.
Meanwhile, Zachary was sitting in the lounge on the first floor of Vanguard Capital’s office building, with his eyes fixed on the elevator.
He had been waiting there since morning but Vance never showed up. His stomach growled but he forced himself to wait. It was noon. He was about to pass out from hunger. Nobody even invited him upstairs. No one even offered him a glass of
water.
He walked to the receptionist, smiling obsequiously, “Excuse me, may I ask if Mr. Wyatt is done with the meeting?”
He waited from morning to noon. He didn’t believe the meeting would last all day.
The receptionist wasn’t as friendly as before. She said indifferently, “I’m sorry, but Mr. Wyatt is still very busy. You can come back another day.”
Zachary lowered his voice. “Is there any way you can make an exception? Could you at least ask him for me? I’ve been waiting since morning.”
The receptionist said, “Mr. Wyatt is really busy.” After that, Vance walked out of the elevator. The receptionist quickly stood up and, along with all her colleagues, respectfully greeted Vance. “Mr. Wyatt!”
Zachary finally saw Vance. He eagerly walked to Vance. “Mr. Wyatt, it’s me.”
But Theo stopped him. “Sorry, Mr. Wyatt has a very important appointment to attend.”
“I just need three minutes.” Zachary still tried to approach Vance. “I need to talk to Mr. Wyatt.”
Theo said, “Sorry, Mr. Wyatt is in a hurry.”
Zachary said, “Theo, please tell me why Mr. Wyatt decided not to do business with us.” He tried to stuff the bank card that prepared to bribe Yvonne into Theo’s hand although he knew he was in a public place.
Theo quickly pushed the card back to him. “Mr. White, please!”
Zachary kept pushing the card toward Theo. But the card fell to the ground, attracting a lot of people’s attention.

Theo was furious. “Mr. White, this is bribery! You’ll get me fired!
Zachary said, “Theo.”
Theo quickly shook off Zachary and caught up with Vance, eager to distance himself from Zachary.
Zachary said, “Theo, wait for me. He did not care that it was embarrassing. He picked up the card and hurriedly followed behind Theo. Watching them get into a car, Zachary hailed a taxi. “Follow that car.”
Inside a private room at No. 9, Yvonne had been waiting. When she saw Vance walk in wearing a suit, she couldn’t help but tease him. “You’re looking more and more like a big shot.”
Vance said, “Boss, don’t tease me.” He put the reports beside him and handed Yvonne a gift. “This is a special kind of coffee beans. I brought it, especially for you.”
“Thank you!” Yvonne took the gift from him. “Let’s eat first.”
Zachary soon arrived at No. 9. After asking around, he learned that Vance had gone to a private room on the second floor. As soon as he reached the second floor, he saw Theo guarding the door of Room No. 1.
Theo saw him too. Surprised that Zachary was so persistent, Theo immediately thought Zachary would try to barge into the room. He immediately stood in front of the door to block Zackary.
“Theo!” Zachary walked to Theo with a smile. “You’ve got me wrong. I don’t want to get inside. I just want to wait until Mr. Wyatt finishes his work. I have something to tell him.”
Theo said, “Mr. Wyatt has nothing to talk about with you.”
“No way!” Zachary was still smiling. “We used to be good business partners!”
Theo sneered and thought, ‘If it wasn’t for the big boss Ms. Lynch, who would even bother to work with your small–time company? Besides, every collaboration before this hasn’t been pleasant at all!‘
Zachary asked with a flattering smile, “Theo, would you mind telling me who Mr. Wyatt is eating with?”
Theo said coldly, “Yes.”
Zachary said, “Theo…” Theo interrupted him coldly. “Mr. Wyatt won’t be seeing you. Please, Mr. White, just leave.”
Zachary didn’t get angry. He waited at the door. After a while, when a waiter was about to get inside to serve the food, Zachary cocked his head to take a quick peek inside. Although Theo tried hard to block him, he saw a familiar face! Zachary thought, ‘Yvonne? What’s she doing in there? Vance was in a hurry to see her? No way!‘
After a while, the waiter went inside again to serve the food. Zachary took another peek inside and was sure it was Yvonne! More importantly, Vance, who usually looked stern and aloof was respectful and polite to Yvonne. Zachary wondered how it was even possible.
After the door was closed, Zachary looked at Theo in shock. “Isn’t… isn’t she Yvonne?” But Theo, who was already used to it, didn’t respond to him.
Zachary was shocked, recalling how his company suddenly lost its business partners, including Vance.
Zachary wondered if it had something to do with Yvonne and who Yvonne was to Vance. As these thoughts flashed across his mind.
Zachary thought, ‘Is there something special between Yvonne and Vanguard Capital?‘ His breathing became ragged. He couldn’t believe it was true. Zachary thought, ‘No way. She can’t possibly be capable of this. It’s probably just a coincidence!
But he was sure Vance was very polite to Yvonne, almost flattering her. The more Zachary thought about it, the more he

thought it was strange. After waiting for a long time outside the room, he suddenly noticed that Theo had left.
He quickly rushed forward to open the door! The people inside had already finished their meal and left through another passage.
He didn’t expect this room to have another passage! He thought. No way! I have to find Yvonne and figure out what is going on!‘
