Chapter 53
Matthew waited and waited, but Yvonne still hadn’t arrived. His stomach started growling with hunger.
“Sir…” William entered the room once again and began.
Matthew immediately perked up and asked expectantly, “Is Yvonne coming?”
Matthew wondered where Yvonne was. He looked out and saw the backs of several bodyguards. They formed a human wall, and through the gaps between their shoulders, he could see there were many people standing outside.
Matthew’s energy deflated instantly, like a punctured soccer ball
William said hesitantly, “Sir, just some small companies you’ve never heard of. They probably heard that you’re here resting and came specifically to visit you…”
Matthew interrupted impatiently, “I already said I won’t see them! Did Christopher say when he’ll get here? It’s already twelve–thirty and he’s still not here!”
William replied immediately, “Mr. Christopher Sanchez has taken Mrs. Yvonne Sanchez to lunch and will be here as soon as he finishes.
Seeing the delicious dishes laid out in front of Matthew untouched, William couldn’t help but advise, “Mr. Matthew Sanchez, you should eat something. It might take a while for Mr. Christopher Sanchez and Mrs. Yvonne Sanchez to get here…”
This young couple was always so lovey–dovey.
Matthew felt neglected and snorted, “Humph! That rascal! Why didn’t he come here first and then take me out? Leaving me here all alone…”
Outside, Ada’s feet were aching from standing in her four–inch heels. She was tired and hungry, and looking at the expressionless bodyguards, she smiled obsequiously, “Hey, buddies, we’ve been standing here for an hour! It’s lunchtime, and the lunch I prepared for Mr. Matthew Sanchez is going to get cold. Can we go in and see him first?”
Mrs. Khan, who was standing next to Ada, saw the bag of Jusen Restaurant in her hand, and despised, “Mrs. White, it’s ridiculous. Who do you think Mr. Matthew Sanchez is? Jusen Restaurant? Too cheap.”
After saying that, Mrs. Khan looked at the bodyguards with a smile and said, “Gentlemen, how about letting us in? You’ve heard of the Khan family’s reputation, right? The lunch we brought is packed from Lottie’s Restaurant! Look at these packaging boxes, so delicate!”
Lottie’s Restaurant had a much bigger reputation than Jusen Restaurant.
Ada chose Jusen Restaurant because she couldn’t get a lunch reservation at Lottie’s Restaurant.
Seeing that her food couldn’t compete with others, Ada took a few envelopes out of her bag and forcibly stuffed them into the hands of the bodyguards.
Ada smiled sycophantically, “These are just some tokens of our appreciation. Please, gentlemen, let us in to see Mr. Matthew Sanchez. We will be very grateful to you and repay you.”
Mrs. Khan saw Ada resorting to such tricks and immediately took out a few bank cards from her bag, exclaiming, “Well, those envelopes won’t contain much. Cards are different…”
“Mrs. Khan, how can you do this?” Ada called out.
Mrs. Khan, or Melanie, sneered, “Mrs. White, don’t call me so intimately. That’s not even established!“/

Ada snorted, “Mrs. Khan, this engagement was arranged by the elders of both our families. Are you thinking of going back on it?”
Melanie retorted, “If he knew that your biological daughter was raised by a cleaner, he’d probably jump out of his grave to oppose this marriage.”
Ada raged, “How can you say such things in front of our kids…”
The two women kept trying to shove things into the bodyguards hands; neither would back down.
The bodyguards were indifferent. The envelopes and cards stuffed in their hands fell to the ground.
Zachary personally picked them up again and forcefully stuffed the envelopes into the bodyguards‘ pockets, whispering, “Just take them, boys. It’s just a little token of appreciation…”
One of the bodyguards saw the gifts Zachary was carrying with one hand, which included a lot of supplements such as ginseng. He couldn’t help but scorn internally. The Sanchez family’s servants receive a bunch of such gifts during any holiday. He couldn’t understand if Zachary looked down on Mr. Matthew Sanchez or if he thought these cheap gifts were enough to please Mr. Matthew Sanchez.
Several bodyguards simultaneously pulled the envelopes Zachary had stuffed into their pockets and threw them on the ground.
The envelopes felt like they only contained a few thousand dollars, while their monthly salary was 100 thousand dollars.
How could they possibly risk their jobs for such a small amount of money?!
Seeing them being treated like this, Mrs. Khan gloated.
Realizing that the group of bodyguards wouldn’t budge, Ada suddenly noticed her daughter, who was quite good–looking… She quickly tugged on Muriel’s sleeve and muttered, “Muriel, go and talk to those guys…”
Yanis knew exactly what Ada was thinking and quickly stepped in to protect Muriel, snapping, “Mrs. White, let me handle it! Muriel is still young. Let me take care of this.”
Ada vented her frustration on Yanis and said furiously, “How could I trouble you, Mr. Khan? Did you hear what your mother said just now? Your marriage with Muriel isn’t even close to being settled!”
At that moment, William came out of the hospital room and called out, “Step aside, everyone! Step aside!”
A girl emerged from the elevator not far away, her slender and fair legs immediately catching everyone’s attention. Her charming eyes were bright and clear, and her fair face was striking, radiating an aura of cold confidence. Seeing her, William quickly stepped forward and respectfully greeted her in a low voice, “Mrs. Yvonne Sanchez!”
He spoke quietly because there were too many people around. As Yvonne’s identity as Mrs. Yvonne Sanchez hadn’t been publicized yet, he didn’t want to cause her any unnecessary trouble.
Seeing William, Yvonne politely greeted, “Mr. Hopkins.”
William felt a warm sensation in his heart, thinking the Mrs. Yvonne Sanchez was so kind–hearted. Others called him William, but she called him Mr. Hopkins, which touched his heart.
William said enthusiastically, “Mr. Matthew Sanchez has been waiting for you a long while! This way please.”
Seeing William respectfully leading Yvonne, the folks from the White family, the Khan family, and several others visiting the old gentleman were all stunned.
