Chapter 7
I stared at the scraps of paper flying around us and sighed.
“Lena, this is a public place. Don’t litter.”
Her brows furrowed, like she couldn’t believe I was focused on something so…. petty.
She kicked the pieces away with her foot and grabbed my arm.
“This isn’t real. I don’t accept this.”
“Come on–we’re getting remarried.”
I stumbled a little but caught my balance.
“You signed it. I told you to read it carefully. You didn’t. That’s not on me.”
But she wasn’t listening.
She kept pulling at me, tugging at my sleeve like she could pull me back into her world.
But no matter how hard she pulled, I didn’t budge.
She wasn’t even using real force.
It was a test.
She wanted me to take that first step back toward her.
The truth is–I’m a stubborn person.
I’ve always been that way, even when we were dating.
Once I decide something, I stick to it.
The only exception was Lena.
For five years, any time she asked me for something, I gave in.
Over and over, she crossed my lines, and I let her.
Because I loved her.
And now, here she was again, trying to pull me back, to make me change my mind.
But this time, I stood my ground.
I didn’t move.

Not even an inch.
Eventually, Lena let go of my hand.
She knew.
I didn’t love her anymore.
