Chapter 6
“Prenatal checkup?”
“Sho’s pregnant?!?
Lucas’s voice was rough and shaking.
How could she possibly be pregnant?!”
He couldn’t believe it.
The doctor’s voice carried a tone of seriousness and reproach.
“What do you mean how could she possibly be pregnant?”
“Ms. Moreau is three months along. At one month, the baby was unstable and we nearly lost it.”
“She told me your first wife died in childbirth and that your family needed new life–she begged me to give her progesterone shots to save the
pregnancy.”
“A few days ago, she was so happy telling me she was going to share the good news with you guys.”
“Didn’t she tell you?”
Lucas’s phone slipped from his hand and clattered to the floor.
The call ended.
Little Oliver suddenly started crying and calling my name.
“Giselle… my tummy’s hungry… I want food…”
He sobbed heartbreakingly.
But Lucas, Ethan, and Liam were all still in shock.
Sophia had no choice but to pull a pack of cookies from her bag.
“Here, Oliver sweetie, let’s have some cookies…”
Little Oliver took the cookie through his tears and ate it.
A few minutes later, red welts suddenly broke out all over his body, his mouth opened wide, and his breathing became rapid.
“Ahh… ahh…”
Lucas snapped out of it, his eyes bloodshot as he scooped Oliver up.
“What did you give him?!”
Sophia stumbled backward in fear.
“I didn’t give him anything…”
“He was crying because he was hungry, so I just gave him a cookie…”
Liam picked up the cookie wrapper from the floor and shouted.
“Dad, this cookie has nuts in it!”
After he said that, Lucas’s eyes turned even more bloodshot.
“Sophia, Oliver’s allergic to nuts–didn’t you know that?!”

Without hesitation, Lucas rushed out with Oliver in his arms.
Leaving Sophia and the other two boys in the silent room.
After a few seconds of silence, Lihati suddenly spoke up.
Aunt Sophia, Dad took Oliver to the hospital–can you make us something to eat?”
“Giselle always cooked for us.”
Sophia quickly masked the impatience in her eyes, nodding with a bright smile.
“Of course, Auntie will cook for you boys right away.”
But once she got to the kitchen, Sophia opened her delivery app and quickly ordered some cheap takeout.
She pressed the voice message button on her phone.
“Mom, Giselle’s dead.”
“She actually got cremated!”
“Now we don’t have to worry about our secret getting out.”
She smiled smugly as she finished.
“Aunt Sophia, what are you talking about?”
“What secret?”
The sudden voice made Sophia jump out of her skin.
She stumbled backward, clutching her chest.
“Oh, it’s you, Liam?”
“Auntie wasn’t saying anything–you must have heard wrong.”
She quickly led him back to the living room.
Half an hour later, the takeout arrived.
She carelessly dumped it onto plates and brought it out to the two boys.
“Eat up!”
Then she sat down scrolling through her phone, texting Lucas to complain and apologize.
After they finished eating, she wandered around the entire house.
Just as she was about to sit down again-
Suddenly, Ethan and Liam were clutching their stomachs, their faces pale as sheets.
“Aunt Sophia, our stomachs really hurt!”
“Are we gonna die?”
Sophia went cold with fear.
No time to think about anything else, she had Mrs. Martha help get them into the car and raced to the hospital.
Just as they arrived, they ran into Lucas coming out looking exhausted.
