Chapter 14
After the news about the canceled wedding had spread like wildfire, Chad had been a wreck all aftern
Stephanie smiled, but there was no warmth in it–only biting sarcasm. “You can just announce that you made a mistake when you were looking for your real daughter. Say I’m not your daughter anymore. That should clear everything up?
Chad’s jaw dropped. How dare… that’s nonsense!”
This wasn’t a solution; it was an even bigger joke.
It seemed like Stephanie not only wanted to call off the wedding with Chris, but also wanted to sever ties with the entire Hart family.
Chad’s face darkened.
Stephanie’s tone remained unflinching. “Anyway, Chris and I are done. It’s not happening”
Chad’s chest tightened with frustration. He shot back, “Then who do you plan to marry? You’re supposed to be getting married in a week!
“If you keep messing with the Ashford family, no one in Long Harbor will ever want to marry you
When he mentioned their wedding being just a week away, Stephanie’s laugh was bitter, her smile mocking
She sneered, “You probably don’t know, do you? This morning, Chris told me Olivia’s back, so our wedding’s been postponed.”
Chad’s eyes widened in shock. “What?”
Clearly, he was unaware of it.
Stephanie continued, “Just because the Hart family wants to suck up to the Ashfords, does that mean I have to lose all my dignity, too?”
Chad hesitated, clearly stunned by her words.
The mention of “losing dignity” made his face go even darker.
Stephanie wasn’t wrong. Over the years, the Hart family had become more and more dependent on the Ashfords.
Chad let out a long sigh. “You silly kid… ”
Stephanie cut him off, her voice firm. “I’ve made myself clear. Chris and I are done. There’s no going back.”
She was resolute on this.
Chad was furious, but he knew there was nothing he could do.
His tone softened, but it was still firm. “No going back? That’s nonsense. I won’t let you cancel the wedding.”
If they angered the Ashfords, the entire Hart family would suffer.
Even though Chris had feelings for Olivia, the Ashford family would never approve of this situation.
The Ashford family had several conservative elders, and when it came to situations that threatened the family’s reputation, they were ruthless and unforgiving.

Chapter 14
Chad had learned that the hard way two years ago.
That incident almost cost the Hart family all the profits they’d made from the Ashfords.
Chad let out a long, heavy sigh. “I’ll discuss this with the Ashford family. Don’t be so stubborn.”
Stephanie, uninterested in his words, walked toward the door and opened it, a silent signal for him to leave.
Chad’s frustration surged. You’ve already humiliated Chris, thrown a punch at them–isn’t that enough?”
Then, as if offering a grand favor, he added, “By the way, I had your mom call to restore your card. She’ll contact the bank tomorrow.”
Stephanie, acting as though she hadn’t heard a word he said, replied calmly, “I’m telling you now, I’m done with Chris.”
No matter how much Chad tried to persuade or pressure her, the answer was always the same.
“Can’t you just… ” Chad placed a hand over his chest, clearly struggling to keep his composure.
Stephanie’s stubbornness was pushing him to the brink, and he couldn’t hold back his anger any longer.
