Chapter 90
Chris‘ expression darkened even further. “They made it that clear?”
“Yes.” Chris clenched his jaw, his face growing even stormier.
Tyler’s voice was sharp. “What’s her relationship with Macro? Why would Macro care about what she thinks?”
Just hearing that Stephanie had a say in the matter felt like the nature of their relationship was more complicated than anyone had realized.
Chris‘ expression grew darker with each passing second.
Not only is Macro close with that guy from Cloudridge Valley, but now he’s involved with… Chris thought, his chest tightening with fury.
The flames of anger quickly drowned out any rational thought. The words that Stephanie only cared about him flashed in his mind, and then he remembered her cold, indifferent attitude toward him.
It was unbearable. Chris ‘couldn’t accept the truth anymore; Stephanie didn’t love him. And on top of that, she had a lover.
‘How dare she? This damn woman, how could she do this to me?‘ he seethed as she wondered.

“Chris, Olivia’s condition is getting worse. If those two important doctors don’t show up soon, there will be consequences we can’t handle,” Tyler said, urgency in his voice.
The consequences were clear. Olivia would die. She would suffer until the end.
“Fine, I got it.” Chris‘ voice was hoarse, thick with rage.
As he looked up, he saw Stephanie stepping out of a sleek Aston Martin, turning back to say something to the driver. Her smile in that moment felt like nothing more than flattery in Chris‘ eyes.
The car drove away. Stephanie turned toward the building, and when she saw Chris standing there, she paused, taken aback.
Chris‘ gaze burned with anger as he stared at her.
Stephanie remembered checking her phone when she woke up this morning, noticing numerous missed calls, many from unfamiliar numbers.
Most likely, one of them had been from Chris.
“Stephanie, you’re so cheap. How many lovers do you have?” His voice thundered, the words laced with fury.
Stephanie had already been annoyed to see him, and hearing that accusation made her blood boil.
She marched up to him and slapped him hard across the face. “How many lovers I have is none of your business. What right do you have to shout at me?”
Though the office rush had died down, people were still coming and going. The slap echoed through the space, and Chris‘ face turned a gloomy shade.
Gritting his teeth, he looked at Stephanie. “Stephanie, you-
“Louder, why don’t you?” Stephanie slapped him on the other cheek with a sharp crack.
Chris could barely hold back his fury, but now, he was speechless.

Seeing him go silent, Stephanie crossed her arms and sneered. “Are you out of your mind? Everyone in Long Harbor knows we’ve called off the engagement, so what are you doing here?
“And asking about my lovers? What business is it of yours? Hundreds of men would want to be with me–so what? Are you going to kill me over it?”
Chris‘ anger shot through the roof, his face turning red with rage.
Stephanie continued, “And marriage is supposed to be about mutual consent and equality. What are you doing? Just because we were once engaged, does that mean I lost the right to choose freely?”
She ranted, her words coming out in a rapid fire. Chris couldn’t get a word in, and his mind went blank as he watched her mouth move.
‘Wait, why does it look like her mouth is swollen?‘ he thought, finally noticing.
Having been in relationships before, Chris instantly realized what had happened. He could tell just by looking at her puffy lips. The anger in his eyes intensified.
“How long have you been with that guy? Did you sleep with him? Did you have sex with him?” Chris demanded, voice harsh.
Stephanie shot back. “Hey, that’s disgusting! You…”
Without hesitation, she aimed a kick at Chris. He managed to dodge, but it only fueled her anger further.
