Hubert lowered his head and sent a message to Ilex, who was positioned close to Azalea, inquiring about her day.
He had people positioned near Azalea not to spy on her, but to ensure her safety during emergencies.
Hex had not considered the altercation with Ivy significant enough to report. If Hubert had not inquired. it might have gone unmentioned.
“Mr. Lennox, the remaining schedule includes the Johans‘ dinner.”
“Cancel it. Send a gift in my place and apologize to Mr. Johan, explaining I must attend to urgent matters at home.”
With his instructions sent, Hubert pocketed his phone and headed for the elevator.
Levi muttered under his breath, “Urgent matters? Did something happen to Mr. Wylie again?”
Today, Ace was driving. “Mr. Hubert, are we heading to Mr. Wylie’s?”
“To Ashbourne Villa.” Ace glanced at Hubert’s reflection in the rearview mirror, noting his composed demeanor.
It was the first time Hubert had expressed a desire to return to Ashbourne Villa since Ms. Yarrow moved there.
As a loyal employee, Ace refrained from delving into personal matters, focusing instead on driving smoothly.
Yet, curiosity bubbled within him.
Just last week, Deuce wagered that Hubert’s sudden interest in Ashbourne Villa was solely because of his concern toward Wylie’s classmate, which then’led to Ms. Yarrow moving in.
Now, barely a week later, Hubert could not resist checking in–how intriguing!
As he passed a dessert shop, Hubert asked the driver to pull over. When he returned, he was holding a rabbit–shaped cake.
Azalea, meanwhile, was muttering to herself why her country did not just take over the world back then.
Her frustration with foreign languages washed away her bad mood.
Despite acing subjects like math, physics, and chemistry, and once excelling in her native tongue, foreign languages were always her weak spot.
Her nearly perfect test scores were always marred by her foreign language results.
Previously, even with minimal effort, she managed to score 120-130 out of 150 in that subject. However, after two years without practice, she had lost even that modest ability.
Passing a foreign language test was now a struggle.

Knock Knock Knock!
“Can I come in?”
Is that Hubert’s voice?
Confused about why Hubert would visit so late, Azalea invited him in.
The door opened to reveal Hubert in a silver–gray suit, incongruously holding a rabbit cake.
Was it for her? Azalea glanced at the cake in Hubert’s hand, assuming he had come to console her after hearing about her day.
She was half right. Hubert did come to offer comfort, but not with the cake.
“Mr. Lennox, what brings you here?”
Hubert pulled up a chair and sat next to her. “As your landlord, I thought I’d check on my tenant. I’m here not just as a life mentor but, it seems, a foreign language teacher might be more pressing.
He nodded towards the books spread out on her desk, his brows arching playfully. After all these years, her struggle with foreign languages had never changed.
Ever since he had first seen Azalea wrestle with foreign languages, Hubert knew she had not given up; she had just adjusted her approach.
With a soft smile, Hubert knew Azalea was not as delicate as she seemed.
He opened the cake box, set it on the table, and began eating, one spoonful at a time, “My foreign language skills are pretty solid. I studied abroad during college, so feel free to ask for help.”
As the sweet flavors mingled on his tongue, his features softened, and he added, “And don’t worry, I won’t charge you for the tutoring.”
Azalea watched Hubert for a few seconds, slightly taken aback. She had not pegged him as the type to indulge in sweets.
Wait, wasn’t that cake supposed to be for her?
This was unexpected.
A flicker of surprise crossed Azalea’s face.
Hubert, catching her look, explained, “I came here planning to listen to your grievances and cheer myself up with some sweets. Life’s hard, and sometimes, a little sugar helps.
“And besides, enjoying sweets is perfectly normal. If you ever want some, I know a few good places.”
Hubert’s approach lightened Azalea’s mood, making the atmosphere feel more like two friends hanging
out.
Without hesitation, she started asking questions about the problems she did not understand, taking full advantage of Hubert’s offer to help.

Engrossed in her studies, Azalea soon pushed aside the day’s frustrations. Those who had upset her were not worth spoiling her evening.
Noticing the time, at ten, Hubert said, “Let’s call it a night. If you have more questions later, just come by. I should head out; you’ve got school tomorrow. Try to get some rest.”
