Chapter 28 She Is Staying
Sam pinpointed Azalea’s location.
Azalea eyed Petal, noting his depleted abilities yet persistent attempts to engage, and grinned.
After clearing the wave, Azalea feigned a move towards the bottom lane but instead slipped into the bushes.
Petal scoffed, underestimating her. “Does she think I can’t see through that trick?”
“Phoenix is in the right bush in mid. Come up the river, and we’ll dive her,” he coordinated with his
teammate.
“Rookie mistake,” jeered the marksman. “Thinking such a basic deception would work in a high–tier game?”
However, his taunt soon backfired.
Azalea burst from the bushes with a flash, unleashing her ultimate and striking the marksman before he could react.
Petal, caught off guard, was swiftly overwhelmed by Wylie, who emerged from the jungle with his ultimate ready, securing another kill.
Capitalizing on their initial kill, they moved decisively toward the Dragon Pit, turning the marksman’s death into a strategic advantage.
“How did she hit me from that distance after I just checked the bush?” the marksman fumed, having gone from mocking to being knocked out in an instant.
The team’s vice–captain harshly critiqued over the mic, “If you can’t handle the fight, better step aside early and stop wasting space. Two kills in the last skirmish, utterly foolish.”
Petal stared at the screen, frustration mounting. It was Phoenix, again!
GOD, adept at capitalizing on early leads, saw Wylie making seemingly random but effective appearances on the battlefield.
Yet, the greater thorn in Anexis’s side was Azalea, whose plays bordered on the uncanny!
“Is this Phoenix using some kind of vision cheat? How does she always manage to escape when five of us ambush her?” grumbled the jungler, dismayed by his screen fading to black after being counter–killed.
If things kept going this way, a loss seemed inevitable.
Each time they clashed head–to–head, Azalea invariably came out on top, much to their frustration.
Their marksman had been repeatedly taken down by Azalea’s unpredictable jungle maneuvers.
In stark contrast to Anexis‘ struggling marksman, Sam was having a blast, “Phoenix, you’re my dad now. Farming without a care feels amazing!”
After snatching the enemy’s buff for Sam, Lachlan could not help but boast, “This buff you’re enjoying?

“Heh, love you too, bro!” he replied cheerily.
As the game approached the ten–minute mark, the crucial fight loomed. If Anexis could not seize the moment, their only option would be to push lanes defensively.
GOD, with their advantage, secured the dragon first.
“Dog God’s taken it, let’s move,” signaled the top laner, and the rest of the team converged.
What followed was a textbook team fight.
As a seasoned team, Anexis‘ execution was flawless, scattering GOD’s formation.
However, this left Anexis spread thin in pursuit.
Azalea did not hesitate to direct her abilities at the enemy’s carries during a critical pause in the fight, and before Anexis could react, their marksman and mage were decisively eliminated.
The cleanup of the remaining three was just a formality.
With Sam’s hero, Missy, fully powered up, he effortlessly overpowered his opponents.
GOD clinched the first game with ease.
Anexis‘ coach took note, “That new mid–laner is a force to be reckoned with. We need to tread carefully next game.”
To curb Azalea’s impact, Anexis strategically banned five top mages in the next match’s ban phase, targeting the most potent ones available.
Azalea just smiled, unfazed. Being targeted was futile against her versatility. There was not a challenge she could not meet.
Her skills were undeniable, and while Irene admired her, she was completely outshined. In the second game, they chose Water Dancer as per Azalea’s preference.
Anexis was taken aback by the pick, but soon they were overwhelmed by Azalea’s spectacular performance.
“Wow! I knew you were awesome, but this is beyond expectations, Phoenix!” Lachlan was amazed.
Was that last move even humanly possible?
Azalea grinned, “I’ve got to do justice to the jersey I’m wearing.”
“Our new coach is showing some serious skills too, Billy, looks like your days are numbered,” joked the top laner.
The coach, amused yet proud, responded, “Ever heard of the old being washed away by the new? It’s just the natural order.”
Irene was visibly moved, her hands clasped tightly together as she trembled with excitement. She was actually part of this!

This felt unbelievably cool! Wylie inhaled deeply; although they had beaten Anexis before, it involved a fair bit of luck. This clean victory was a first.
He could almost see the championship trophy beckoning.
“Incredible, Wylie said, smiling at Azalea.
Azalea responded with a smile, “Don’t just praise me, Captain. How about you treat us to dinner?”
“Sure thing, you guys pick the place!” Wylie responded enthusiastically.
Azalea gave Irene a nudge, “So, you sticking with GOD?”
Without hesitation, Irene shot back, “Where else would I go? To Anexis?”
