Chapter 29 Wesley’s Arrival
“Of course not! The contract is all set,” the coach said, whipping out the contract he had prepared right after their first match.
“Tsk, but I’m still the boss, right?” Wylie quipped, although no one really acknowledged his comment.
The mood at GOD was ecstatic, in stark contrast to the tension at Anexis where the atmosphere was so thick you could cut it with a knife. They had just lost a training match and now had to deal with a visit from the boss–talk about pressure!
Bastian, bringing Sydney along, made his way to the Anexis headquarters.
He had promised Sydney a chance to play, and he intended to keep that promise.
The coach briefed him on the training match loss, but Bastian was unfazed. “It’s just a training match. Let’s focus on performing well in the official games. They’ve got a good mid–laner, but our players are solid
too.”
His words buoyed the spirits of the team.
Then, Bastian made an announcement, “Since everyone’s here, I’d like to introduce you to someone. This is Sydney, my sister, who will join us for the Autumn Finals. Given that Sydney is new, she’ll only play the first match.”
To the team, this basically meant the boss‘ sister was joining them–just keep her safe and sound during the match.
The team’s reaction was immediately supportive, especially from those who usually had harsh words for women in esports.
Jungler said, “The boss‘ sister is our sister, and she’s got free rein. I’ll even snag the buff for you.”
Top laner chimed in, “She can play however she wants, win or lose–it’s all good.”
The support did not hesitate to say he would leave the marksman and stick with Sydney during the game.
Sydney lowered her eyelids, offering a shy smile, “Thank you for taking care of me, big brothers.”
Her grace and charm naturally endeared her to the team, with several members clearly pleased by her simple acknowledgment.
Despite the apparent camaraderie, Petal struggled to share in the joviality. He puzzled over Anexis‘ strategy–why introduce a new player so soon after his own recruitment? It felt almost like a slight.
Under normal circumstances, he would not have minded, especially given Sydney’s prominent family connections, and knowing it was only for one game which was more a formality than anything serious.
However, his recent defeats against the formidable Phoenix had left him uneasy, almost jumpy at the sight of a woman in the gaming arena.
“I need some air,” he muttered, excusing himself.

Sydney, perceptive to his discomfort, recognized him. He was Wylie’s former teammate, probably unsettled by her arrival as if she had usurped his place.
Seeing an opportunity to perhaps bridge a connection with Wylie, she followed Petal outside.
Petal, visibly annoyed, did not mask his feelings, “Why are you here? To flaunt your status?”
Instead of reacting defensively, Sydney remained calm, “I’m sorry, I realize my presence might be unsculing.”
Petal, taken aback by her mature response, found himself at a loss for words.
“I’ve heard about your amazing skills back when you were with GOD. I’d be grateful if you could show me a few things,” she said, admiration clear in her voice.
The flattery softened Petal slightly, though he maintained a veneer of resistance, “I’m not in the habit of teaching.”
“I’m eager to learn!” Sydney’s response, coupled with an earnest smile, seemed to cut through Petal’s
reserve.
Azalea had quickly adjusted to her team, and after a productive weekend of training, she had meshed well with her teammates.
Irene had pointed out a few minor issues during their practice matches, and after some additional training, she had left the base earlier than usual today.
Today felt unusual. Normally, Carla would be concerned about her and wait at the door when she returned at night. However, today, nobody was there to greet her.
Not only was Carla absent, but there was also an unfamiliar car parked at the door. Could it be Hubert’s?

Walking into the living room, she could not help but smirk at the ongoing drama.
Just after Ivy’s departure, now Wesley had shown up.
Who would be next?
And why all the bodyguards? Did they not realize this was Hubert’s place?
If the Draywick Larks were to be cautious of anyone, it would have to be the Lennox.
Azalea was correct about one thing–Cassius was unaware that this was one of Hubert’s private properties. Hubert officially resided at Crestmere Estate, and this location was kept private.
The Larks likely thought some rich newcomer had built this villa, and even the wealthiest families in Draywick were nothing to them, so Wesley felt bold enough to arrive with bodyguards.
Upon their arrival, they announced themselves–one as Azalea’s father and the other her brother. Carla, caught off guard, could not simply turn them away and let them in. Langdon sensed trouble and quickly

As Azalea entered, Wesley wasted no time. He directed the bodyguards to detain her.
Carla attempted to intervene but could not hold back the group of formidable bodyguards. Azalea was captured without much of a chance to resist.
