As Hubert thought back to what he saw when he rushed over, his anger boiled over. How dare he pick on my girl!
He yanked off his tie and threw it on the floor. He calmly lifted his wrist and unbuttoned his watch and cufflink while saying, “Whether this person leaves today or not, that’s not your call.”
For a moment, Matthias was caught off guard. That was when Azalea suddenly bit down hard on his wrist. That shove he gave her still hurt.
Revenge is a dish best served cold, but Azalea believed in settling scores on the spot.
She bit down with everything she had until Matthias finally jerked his hand away, clutching his wrist, as Azalea slipped away like a slippery fish and ran toward Hubert.
“Azalea!” Matthias shouted in fury, holding his wrist where his pale skin quickly turned red, a drop of blood forming at the edge of her bite marks.
The next second, a rough hand grabbed his shoulder, and a strong fist hit him hard in the stomach.
Hubert’s eyes were cold steel, his brows low, full of ruthless determination. “Time to settle the score for you messing with my kid.”
Matthias’s bodyguards reacted fast, moving to protect their boss, but Ace and his men blocked them easily, their smiles polite but firm. “Let the bosses take care of their own business.”
They were civilized guys; throwing punches wildly wasn’t their thing.
They wouldn’t start a fight without Hubert’s orders, but they definitely wouldn’t stop him from teaching others a lesson.
Matthias’s guards gritted their teeth, frustrated/but helpless.
Hubert held Matthias down and threw several hard punches before finally letting go with a lazy sigh. He straightened his sleeve, snapped his cufflink back on, and turned back into the polished CEO.
Meanwhile, Matthias was half–kneeling on the floor, clutching his stomach, coughing badly. His face was pale, his arrogance wiped away, leaving just a pitiful shadow.
“Dr. Lark, remember–it won’t be just a few punches next time.” He hadn’t wanted to get so involved with Azalea and the Larks. He’d hoped she’d figure things out herself, but the Larks were reckless, coming at her even though they knew he was protecting her.
Hubert, worried about Azalea’s bruises, didn’t hesitate to pull down her shirt at the neck to reveal a dark bruise spreading across her skin. He ground his teeth, regretting going easy on Matthias. I should’ve sent that jerk to the hospital for days.
“I’m fine. It looks worse than it is,” Azalea said quickly, pulling his hand away but wincing sharply from the pain.
“That’s your idea of fine?” Hubert snapped.

Without waiting, he dropped down and lifted her onto his back.
“I’m taking her to the hospital. You handle things here,” he said firmly to Wylie.
Wylie nodded. “Got it.”
Once they left, Ace finally let his bodyguards move forward.

Matthias was helped up, glaring fiercely at the figures walking away. Azalea, Hubert, you two are done for!
He’d never felt so helpless and humiliated before.
Bastian showed up late and brushed past Hubert, his eyes catching Azalea carried on his back. His expression shifted.
Azalea’s hurt?
And Matthias?
His gaze swept the area but didn’t find Matthias anywhere. His face darkened, but after thinking it over, he swallowed his worry and hurried toward the garage.
Azalea let out a silent, bitter laugh.
Bastian had planned to take Matthias to the hospital for a checkup, but Matthias refused.
Going to the hospital after getting beaten up by Hubert was just too embarrassing.
“I’m a doctor myself. Don’t you think I know how bad it is?” Matthias insisted on staying, clutching his stomach, curling a cold sneer.
“What did you do to Azalea? I saw Hubert carrying her out. Did you hurt her?” Bastian asked.
“That bitch deserved a lesson.” Matthias sneered as he leaned against the car window and clutched his stomach.
Hearing him call his own sister a little bitch so casually hit Bastian hard.
He gave Matthias a sharp, disapproving look.
“At first, when Cassius said she was cozying up to Hubert, I didn’t believe it. But now I see she’s got skills, enough to make Hubert so protective. I bet she planned her back up before she left home.” Matthias’s anger flared again, thinking about how Hubert held him down and beat him.
Bastian sighed, tired, and offered a reluctant reminder. “He only came back from abroad recently. Before that, none of us have a real relationship with Hubert, let alone Azalea.”
Matthias wouldn’t listen. “Doesn’t take much for a man to care for a woman. Otherwise, why do you think Hubert backs Azalea?”
Faced with that question, Bastian had no answer. He still couldn’t understand why Hubert was so fiercely protective of Azalea.
