Chapter 50 How Could Things Go so Wrong?
That soon?
Azalea blinked in surprise but quickly decided. “Let’s do it right now!”
This time, Matthias really went too far.
They can come after me, but hurting the people I care about is out of the question. When you attack an enemy, you aim for their weak spots and make them feel pain. And Matthias’s weak spot can’t be clearer.
If Sydney’s upset, Matthias definitely won’t like it either.
Skyler promised not to use the usual entertainment tricks against Azalea, but as soon as he turned, he sent a message to his assistant, George Andrews.
Now was the perfect moment to stir things up. The esports championship was all anyone was talking about. If not now, then when?
Azalea had the same idea.
Plagiarism scandals among college students happen all the time. When the Larks cracked down, the fuss died quickly, but Sydney’s role in the competition, plus her onstage outbursts as a female esports player, guaranteed she’d draw attention.
Hubert moved just as fast. Before George could leak a smear piece on Azalea, the internet was already flooded with stories about Sydney hiring a hitman.
“Skyler, check the trending topics. The whole internet’s buzzing about Ms. Lark hiring a hitman. Someone even found out she’s your sister. Your haters are using this to attack you. If it keeps up, it could seriously hurt your reputation.”
When George called Skyler, Skyler thought he must’ve heard wrong. What? Sydney is being dragged through the mud? Wasn’t Cassius behind this? How could things go so wrong?
Skyler’s eyes darkened as a thought hit him. Hubert.
If Hubert is involved, Cassius alone won’t hold him back.
A spark of interest lit up his eyes. This just got way more interesting.
“Hold off on everything. Stop the job I gave you. I want to see how Sydney deals with this first.”
At the same time, Sydney got a call from Jubilee. The message was simple–drop out of school willingly.
If she refused, Jubilee would make her leave by force.
“Ah! Azalea, you horrible bitch!” She slammed her phone on the floor, shattering it into pieces.
Sydney’s face darkened, her anger simmering just below the surface. Her breathing was uneven, tight in her chest.
Hubert’s move hit her where it hurt most. Add her bad performance
at the Autumn Finals, which already

earned fan hate, and now it felt like she’d sunk into a trap with no way out,
I know I can’t stay in Jubilee anymore. My top priority now is to clear the rumor about hiring a hitman, Bill who con

I can’t trust Bastian, and Matthias rushed back to the lab last night and is tied up. Mom and Dad are away on a business trip.
That leaves Cassius. After some hesitation, Sydney decided to ask him for help.
At Ashbourne Villa, Azalea woke up at almost noon, finally feeling rested after days of exhaustion. Hubert’s medicine really worked. After one night, the pain in her back cased a lot. She could move easily
now.
The best news was the bank notification. The Autumn Finals prize money had been deposited.
The prize pool was a massive 70 million, shared by just seven GOD members. Wylie refused his share, so his portion was divided among the rest, leaving Azalea with over 10 million. With that, she could finally start her own club.
She smiled, rereading the message before putting her phone away and heading downstairs.
In the dining room, food was already on the table, ready to eat.
“Carla, did someone come by?”
“Morning, Azalea. It’s Hubert. He didn’t leave last night; he stayed here to rest. I wanted to call you down for lunch, but he didn’t want to wake you, so he ate first and said he’d wait for you to get up before making fresh food.”
Hubert stayed overnight? Azalea’s eyes lit
up,
surprised.
“Is he still here?” she asked eagerly. She wanted to talk to Hubert after the Autumn Finals celebration about the club and get him to invest.
If he was right here, it’d save her a lot of trouble.
Matthias taught her a lesson: Real strength comes from inside.
Even with Wylie there yesterday, Matthias still made a move. But Wylie could only rely on his family name, with no real power to scare anyone. When Hubert showed up, Matthias got beaten and had to swallow it in public..
“He should be in the study.”
Cassius wasn’t home; he was at the company.
When Sydney reached the front desk, she felt nervous. Since Cassius questioned her about the tie last time, they hadn’t talked.

She still didn’t know if Cassius suspected anything. She hadn’t given him any answers before he told her leave.
