Sydney stayed quict in Ivy’s arms, keeping her eyes down and making a sad face as she fought back tears and stammered, “M–Mom, why did you come back? I didn’t want to bother you… It’s okay, really
Her rambling only made Ivy’s heart hurt even more.
My sweet Sydney is always so good, never wanting to trouble us, even when she’s hurt or treated badly.
Ivy shot a pleased look at Skyler. He’s done well remembering to call me and tell me to come back.
Skyler smiled softly, teasing, “Actually, I tried to get Cassius to help, but it looks like he is more on Azalea’s side.”
Ivy’s anger flared up fast. “Has he turned against us too?!
“Who else would Cassius help instead? That ungrateful snake?” Ivy didn’t even realize the ‘ungrateful snake she cursed was her own daughter.
She was mad at her son for not standing up for her adopted daughter and instead siding with her real daughter.
Sydney suddenly understood what Skyler meant earlier. Cassius didn’t want to help her, but now that Ivy was involved, he didn’t have a choice.
Wiping her tears, she quietly said, “Mom, don’t be mad at Cassius. He’s probably just been busy.”
That only made Ivy angrier. What could be more important than his own sister?
She grabbed her phone and snapped, “Cassius, get your ass home–now!”
Cassius knew right away that Ivy had come back because of Sydney,
He remembered their parents left Draywick for a banquet for an old family friend’s baby.
Feeling a headache coming on, Cassius muttered, “Mom, I still have things to handle here. I’ll explain when I get home.”
“The company’s not going bankrupt, right? Then I want you home now!” Ivy didn’t buy his excuses and insisted he come back immediately,
Cassius had no choice but to agree. His business partner noticed his discomfort and kindly said, “Mr. Cassius, if you have family matters, we can delay this.”
“Thanks. I’ll make it up to you with dinner next time.”
After Cassius left, Levi, Hubert’s assistant, showed up and asked the partner with a confident smile, “How about switching your partnership from Lark Group to Lennox Group?”

Chapter 54 From Now On, In Your Boss
In a private room at Longfern Dining, one of Draywick’s top restaurants, the GOD team gathered for a celebration dinner.
They had planned this party to celebrate winning the Autumn Finals, but Matthias’s surprise interference had spoiled things.
“Phoenix, is your injury okay?” Casey, the top–laner, asked with concern.
“I’m mostly healed.” Azalea smiled softly, showing she was fine. “But I want to apologize. You all almost got hurt because of my personal issues.”
Lachlan, who had been scared of Matthias that night, waved it off first. “No big deal. Honestly, it’s on us we didn’t protect you enough.”
“Captain, since we won the Autumn Finals, does that mean the next step is the Grand Finals?” Lachlan looked at Wylie eagerly.
They were still so young. Who would’ve thought they’d just joined the league and already won a championship?
Wylie glanced at Azalea. Before dinner, he’d talked with her about some things.
“Azalea, aka Phoenix, only signed up for the Autumn Finals.” His words cooled the mood around the table.
The marksman, Sam, asked, “Phoenix, you’re quitting? Are you leaving us already?”
Azalea hadn’t said anything yet when Lachlan’s face twisted with worry. “No way! Our team is just starting. We still have so many championships to win.”
Casey didn’t speak but stared at Azalea with firm eyes.
Azalea looked down. “Sorry, but I have college entrance exams next year. I definitely won’t compete anymore.”
No sooner had she said that than the hot–headed marksman shouted, “So this is a breakup dinner?”
Even Riley, who’d been distracted all night, looked over with a mixed expression, clearly wanting to say something.
Just as things got tense, Azalea burst out laughing, and Wylie chuckled too. “Alright, stop freaking everyone
-out.”
“What do you mean?” Everyone was surprised.
“I’m quitting competitions, yes, but I’m not leaving GOD.” Azalea smiled slyly. “Wylie sold the whole team to me. I got investors, and bought a league spot and recruited a mid–laner from Trenesia Union. F on, GOD is officially a club.
