Azalea concluded, “Maybe I’m messed up. But it’s because of how all of you treated me these past three years!”
Everything she had kept buried inside finally burst out. For once, she felt like she could breathe. Seeing Ivy’s face go pale as she stepped back, Azalea felt a strange sense of satisfaction.
“I… “Ivy tried to say it had all been for Azalea’s good. But when she saw the cold hatred in her daughter’s eyes, she froze.
She hates me? Why would she feel that way? Didn’t I give her everything at home, except maybe not always taking care of her diet?
In Ivy’s mind, Azalea wore expensive clothes and had top–quality things. Other than asking her to step aside for Sydney, she had never suffered real harm.
Any guilt Ivy had quickly turned into anger.
What an ungrateful brat!
Azalea kept claiming the Larks owed her. But what had she done for the family?
Sydney was better than Azalea in every way, so they naturally favored her.
Perhaps Azalea’s grievances and resentment were so genuine that it made others around her start to doubt things.
For a second, no one knew which side to believe.
“What’s everyone doing here at the entrance? Don’t you all have classes?”
Ozzie Parker, the school principal, showed up late after hearing the news. He shouted from a distance, trying to clear the crowd of students.
There were even reporters. If he didn’t step in, his title as principal would mean nothing.
Seizing the last moment, Azalea looked straight at Ivy. “Though you gave birth to me, I owe you nothing. As for raising me? I was kidnapped when I was five. After three years at your house, I ended up malnourished. If I haven’t made you pay for that, it’s only because I’m not cruel enough!”
“You there, girl in front–yes, you. Come to my office!” Ozzie said as he grabbed Azalea. Then, he glanced at Ivy.
He remembered seeing Ivy before during meetings about Sydney, so he knew who she was.
Now, though, he was confused about what was happening.
“Mrs. Lark, please try not to handle family issues so publicly next time. It reflects badly on the school, he said, rubbing the few strands of hair left on his head. Things were already a mess.

If it had been a regular student, he could’ve just issued a disciplinary notice. But it involved the Larks.
He remembered their daughter’s name was Sydney. So who exactly was this other girl?
Ozzie felt like he’d seen Azalea before, but he wasn’t sure where.
Ivy smiled apologetically. “Sorry for the trouble, Mr. Parker.”
“So, is she your daughter?”
Ivy glanced at Azalea, who remained silent, her eyes flickering. “No, I’m not familiar with her.”
Azalea heard those words and wasn’t surprised. No wonder she never fit in with the Larks. She could never reach their level of shamelessness.
Just minutes ago, Ivy claimed herself as Azalea’s mother in front of everyone. Now, she pretended they were strangers. Even actors couldn’t switch roles that fast.
“I’m sorry for today, Mr. Parker. I’ll donate a new library to the school as an apology. As for this student, just handle it according to the rules.”
Ozzie stood there stunned when he heard the two weren’t related.
Still, the school did need a new library. It seemed more important than anything else.
As principal of Draywick High School, he had to read the words carefully.
He smiled flatteringly as he watched Ivy leave. When he turned to Azalea, his smile vanished instantly. “I heard about the situation before I got here. Of course, we can’t jump to conclusions without proof.”
Azalea nodded. “You can be straight with me, Mr. Parker. I understand.”
Even if Ozzie hadn’t planned to give her a hard time, Ivy’s last words left him no choice.
Azalea lowered her gaze, a stubborn glint hidden in her eyes. Based on the incident, she was also a victim, yet the Larks had the power. In the end, she’d always be blamed.
She understood that, but it still felt unfair.
Clenching her hands, Azalea forced a smile. “Sorry for the trouble I’ve caused.”
Ozzie noticed how sensible she was and softened a little. “In that case, take a short break from school. Come back after things quiet down.”
Azalea didn’t argue. It was a reasonable punishment in his eyes. Fighting back would only make things worse. She chose to go along with it.
When she left the office, she almost laughed at how things had turned out. Her club had been keeping her busy anyway. It could be a chance to catch up on work.
If she couldn’t come to school, she’d just study at night and look for a new place to stay
That thought lifted her spirits a bit.

Walking down the corridor with her backpack, Azalea scrolled on her phone. She hadn’t checked online
yet.
Thanks to Ivy’s outburst, someone had already shared everything that happened at the gate. Azalea didn’t even have to look it up. News about it was already showing on her screen.
