Chapter 300

They chatted while playing golf

But clearly, Reed and Ryan were far more interested in the pic of their conversation than the game itself

At first, they discussed international affairs. Then the topic gradually shifted until Reed and Ryan began simulating a battlefield strategy on the spot

They were fully engaged in the scenario, while Maggie and Johnny stood by, listening intently..

Franklin and Julia did the same

Perhaps not wanting the younger ones to remain passive observers, Ryan eventually turned to them and said, Why don’t you share your thoughts as well?”

After a moment, Maggie spoke up. With enemies on all fronts, advancing alone would be unwise. Holding position

for now might be the best move.”

Julia paused at his words

She had to admitit was a sound judgment

If Maggie hadn’t said it, she honestly wouldn’t have thought of it herself-

Just as that crossed her mind, she saw Ryan smiling and nodding in approval at Maggie’s suggestion

Johnny responded swiftly as well. He moved two of the cups they were using to simulate the battlefield and said, I’d go for a flanking maneuver from both sides.”

As soon as he said that, Ryan, Reed, and Jordan all chuckled, clearly satisfied with his strategy

Then, their attention shifted to Franklin and Julia

With Maggie and Johnny having spoken, it was naturally their turn

Julia stared at the layout in front of her, momentarily at a loss for what to say

She glanced at Franklin

Franklin said, We don’t have enough troops to defend the city, but if we intercept from the northwest route, we might just turn the tide.”

Reed clapped his hands and laughed. Brilliant! What else

Chapter 300

Julia remained silent for a second

After carefully analyzing the setup, an idea gradually formed in her mind. She smiled and said, If we redirect our southeastern troops to attack from the northwest, we could take the city in one decisive strike.”

But with that move, she directly contradicted Maggie’s earlier strategy of holding ground

On the surface, her plan seemed logical. However-

Maggie calmly responded, The troops you plan to deploy are stationed at a strategically contested zone. If you move them, every prior setup we’ve made becomes null and void.”

Julia froze, not yet replying when Johnny let out a small chuckle and said, Miss Brown, didn’t you notice? The troops you’re reallocating are stationed in the most hotly contested region.”

No one had explicitly mentioned the critical zone before, but given the layout, it was assumed that everyone could

see it

But Julia had, in fact, missed it entirely

She didn’t know much about military strategy, but she understood the significance of a critical stronghold

With her move, all their previous tactical planning was rendered meaningless

There was no point continuing the simulation after that

It finally dawned on Julia just how grave her mistake had been

Everyone’s strategies had held upuntil hers brought the entire scenario crumbling down. For a moment, her expression faltered

Still, she didn’t let her embarrassment show. Inscoffeed, she offered a sheepish smile and said, Sorry, it’s my first time playing this sort of game. I’m not very good at it and ended up spoiling the fun.”

Ryan laughed. It’s just a little game, Miss Brown. No need to take it to heart.”

Judging by his tone, neither he nor Reed seemed to be holding it against her

After all, they had come out to play golf. Soon, they went back to their game

While they played, Ryan, Reed, and Jordan all made a point of talking to Maggie, giving her their full attention

This time, Julia could clearly see itthey genuinely respected and liked Maggie

What’s more, they called her Maggiewith effortless familiarity, while they still addressed Julia formally as Miss Brown.”

All thisover a research paper

And Maggie

She spoke calmly with Ryan and the others, completely at case, with no hint of guilt or discomfort over their clear favor toward her

Julia let out a cold laugh

She really was thickskinned

Still, Julia didn’t plan to bring up the paper

She had no proof

And if she were to accuse Maggie without evidenceclaiming the paper wasn’t even hersit could easily backfire.

Maggie and Ryan continued chatting as they played, completely ignoring Franklin and Julia

The entire morning passed, and the two of them kept a certain distance, as if they had no connection at all
