Chapter 316
Maggie said, “Mommy has to go to work now. Your great–grandmother hasn’t been feeling well lately and needs rest. You can visit her once she’s feeling a bit better.”
Although the elderly lady had never truly blamed Isabella for getting close to Julia, ever since finding out that Sally was also having health issues, it was like her entire spirit had been drained in the past two days.
If she were to see Isabella now, and think of her ties to Julia, it would only worsen her mood.
Hearing that Great–grandma was sick, Isabella immediately grew concerned. “Huh? Great–grandma is sick? Is it. serious? Why didn’t you tell me, Mom?”
Maggie paused for two seconds before saying, “I didn’t want you to worry.”
With that, she gently pried off Isabella’s hands that were holding onto her. “It’s getting late. Mommy has other things to do. Take good care of yourself, okay?”
Isabella was reluctant to let go, but seeing how busy Maggie looked, she reluctantly loosened her grip.
But right after, she pouted and said, feeling wMaggieed, “Mom, why are you always so busy lately? You’re even busier than Dad… When will you finally have time?”
“I’m not sure either,” Maggie replied.
At that, she thought of her soon–to–be–finalized divorce from Franklin. This wasn’t something she could keep from Isabella forever. Then again…
If Franklin planned to marry Julia after the divorce, he would definitely find a time to explain everything to their
daughter.
So there was no need for her to be the one to break the news.
Isabella lowered her head, dejected. “…Okay. You’ve been saying that a lot lately.”
Maggie knew that too.
Because, for now, it was the best excuse she had.
“I’m heading out,” Maggie said again.
“Oh… okay.”
Just as Maggie turned to leave after giving Isabella one last glance, she spotted Julia coming out from the restroom.

Chapter 316
Isabella and Franklin had been waiting in the lobby obviously for Julia.
They had arrived together.
Julia hadn’t expected to run into Maggie either. When she saw her, she briefly paused and gave her a cold glance.
Maggie returned her gaze with a blank expression, then turned away and walked off without a word.
Isabella didn’t notice Julia coming out. She was too busy clinging to her mother’s fingers, gazing up at her with pleading eyes.
Maggie could feel her daughter’s longing, but still, she gently pushed her hand away. “Goodbye.”
Seeing that Maggie was determined to leave, Isabella let go at last and drooped like a withered flower. “Okay. Bye,
Mom…”
Off to the side, Franklin saw how reluctant Isabella was, but he made no move to stop Maggie.
She left for real.
Isabella watched her mother’s fading figure, unwilling to look away.
It wasn’t until Maggie had gone out of sight that Julia finally came over, ruffled Isabella’s hair, and said to Franklin, who had stayed silent this whole time, “It’s getting late. Let’s go eat.”
Franklin said, “Alright.”
Only then did Isabella turn her gaze away and weakly said to her father, “Dad, I want to eat at home.”
“Alright. We’ll eat at home then,” he replied.
With that, the three of them left the hospital together.
The next day, Sally’s medical report came out.
All in all, the organ failure wasn’t as bad as what the nursing home’s prior checkup had shown.
In most cases, this level of organ deterioration could be stabilized with active treatment and proper care.
However, given how poor Sally’s overall health had become the decline was still progressing too fast. Her condition remained grim.
After hearing the doctor’s analysis, Maggie and the elderly Madam Miller had mixed feelings.
They were glad Sally still had a chance. But worried that, in her current state, she might not be able to cooperate
well with treatment.
