To be on the safe side, Maggie hired two additional caregivers to assist with Sally’s care and also asked them to ‘discreetly monitor the situation around Room 1003.
That very evening, she received word that the patient in 100 had been discharged ahead of schedule.
Though Old Madam Green had already left and nothing unusual had happened prior to her departure, Maggie chose not to dismiss the two new caregivers. Instead, she asked them to stay on and continue looking after her mother.
Meanwhile, Johnny had been in nonstop meetings over a promising autonomous vehicle project. He was swamped, so when the government held a high–level forum for top enterprises, Maggie attended in his place.
The forum served as a recognition of companies that had male significant contributions to economic development.
Over 600-700 businesses had been invited.
Maggie didn’t arrive particularly early. As soon as she walked in, Harry–who had just wrapped up a conversation–made a beeline toward her.
“Miss Miller, you made it?”
Maggie nodded. “It’s been a while.”
Julia was also present, representing Wilson Tech at the conference.
She wasn’t surprised to see Harry watching the door nonstop after his arrival. The moment she walked in, he couldn’t wait even a second to come greet her.
Julia noticed it too. She pressed her lips together and quietly looked away.
Cole’s seat was positioned near the front and happened to be next to the Beker Group’s.
After a brief chat, they each returned to their assigned seats,
Cole’s spot was right beside the Wilson Group, which meant
Maggie had seen Julia, but hadn’t spotted Franklin.
She assumed he wasn’t attending the conference.
But as soon as she sat down and finished exchanging pleasantries with the person on her other side, Franklin sat down right beside her.

Seeing him, Maggie made no attempt to greet him.
Franklin, however, nodded politely. “Just arrived?”
She didn’t answer.
The representative on her other side leaned in to greet Franklin instead..
After a few words, the rep looked between the two of them and was about to say something like “You two look great together“-but caught themselves just in time, remembering both parties were already publicly involved with others. Instead, they glanced at Harry, who was seated on Franklin’s other side, and chuckled,
“Well, well… This whole row is filled with brilliant young lealers. Quite the feast for the eyes.”
Franklin gave a small smile and chatted briefly with the person, who then returned to their own seat.
There weren’t many days left before Franklin and Maggie’s divorce would be finalized.
The thought crossed Harry’s mind as he glanced at the two of them sitting side by side–utterly distant.
Aside from Franklin’s initial greeting, the pair hadn’t spoken a single word to each other.
He looked away.
Franklin turned to him a moment later. “It’s been a while. What have you been up to?”
“Been traveling. That biotech project from last year hit a snag.”
“Still not resolved?”
“Needs more time.”
“Want any help?”
Harry shook his head. “Not for now.”
Franklin nodded, then turned to Maggie.
She sensed his gaze and instinctively glanced at him.
He said, “I read the papers you mentioned the other day. Very well done. Though… after reading them, I do have some new questions-”
Maggie turned her head away, as if she hadn’t heard a word
Franklin chuckled softly and said no more.

Although Wilson Tech had gained some visibility recently, it overall scale and valuation still lagged far behind companies like Wilson Group and Cole.
That’s why Julia’s seat had been assigned to one of the last three rows.
From her spot in the back, she looked toward the front–where Franklin, Maggie, and Harry sat together.
Her lips pressed into a tighter line, the corners flattening with barely concealed bitterness.
