Sure, Wilson Tech had made some technological strides recently, but that likely stemmed from Franklin’s legacy at
the company. It didn’t seem to have anything to do with Julia herself.
By contrast, Maggie had never made a show of her credentials or talents. Yet today, she had stunned everyone with a single brilliant display.
In light of this, perhaps the whole “genius girlfriend” narrative around Mr. Wilson’s partner was just smoke and
mirrors.
No one said it out loud, of course. But Julia could feel the shifting glances from those around her–people discreetly comparing her with Maggie. The doubt in their eyes was impossible to ignore.
Her complexion, already pale, grew even worse.
As the silent comparisons and subtle skepticism bore down on her, Julia clenched her fists tightly.
She might not have developed any groundbreaking technologies, but her academic credentials were real–undeniable. No one had the right to question that.
And yet, no one had even said anything. She had no opportunity to defend herself, no moment to explain. Whatever frustration or indignation she felt had to stay bottled up inside.
And when it came to academic achievement-
She couldn’t deny it. Maggie’s recent paper had created waves internationally. Her commanding presence on today’s stage had left a mark.
There was no point denying it: in terms of academic merit, Julia could no longer compare.
She stood in place, her face dark.
After finishing his goodbyes, Franklin said, “Let’s go.”
Julia forced a stiff smile. “Okay…”
She took a deep breath, composing herself. With practiced grace, she turned to greet Mr. Jamison and a few other familiar executives, then walked with Franklin through the crowd, exchanging polite farewells on their way out of the venue.

As they walked, he said in his usual steady tone, “Mr. Zack’s team has been fully vetted, right? No issues?”
He was referring to the person they were about to meet a potential partner in Wilson Tech’s upcoming
collaboration.
Hearing the familiar calmness in his voice, and seeing the gentle warmth still present in his gaze, Julia slowly
settled down.
She smiled faintly. “Yes, we’ve looked into them thoroughly. Zack’s team matches all of our company’s
requirements.”
“Good.”
The elevator arrived just as he finished speaking.
Jamison Group was fairly well–known in the domestic market, and today’s product launch had been livestreamed.
Though the company’s brand wasn’t so big as to instantly dominate online trends during the event, they did have a loyal following who had been tuning in.
At first, the livestream chat had been quiet.
Then came the surprise announcement of Jamison Group’s partnership with Cole.
Interest exploded.
The livestream was suddenly flooded with viewers.
And when Maggie took the stage to explain the technology and give her speech, the viewership–and buzz–soared. Before long, the event had climbed onto the trending list.
Sophia had just been browsing online out of boredom when she noticed the trending topic. Curious, she clicked in–and froze when she saw Maggie on screen.
She hadn’t even processed it fully before the live chat’s comments came pouring in–waves of praise for Maggie’s brilliance.
Beyond the compliments, people in the chat were seriously discussing how this launch might crush the competition in the autonomous vehicle industry.

Sophia may not have been the brightest, but even she knew what all this meant.
Panic surged through her.
She quickly exited the page and fumbled for her phone.
When Janice picked up and heard what Sophia said, she paused, her fingers tightening around the receiver.
Logan noticed the shift in her expression. “What is it?”
If what Sophia said was true, Logan would find out sooner or later.
There was no point hiding it anymore.
So Janice told him everything.
And once she finished, Logan wasn’t sure he’d heard her correctly.
