Maggie and Isabella continued playing their game.
Just then, Franklin’s phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, he stepped a few paces away and answered, “Hello?”
It was Julia.
Ever since the Jamison Group’s press conference–because of Maggie, and out of concern for Wilson Tech’s future–her heart had been uneasy.
And Franklin hadn’t contacted her since yesterday afternoon. Even now, past ten in the morning, there was still no message from him.
Her already anxious heart grew even more restless.
To calm herself and avoid checking her phone constantly, she had deliberately left it behind during a morning meeting and when going out for lunch.
But in the end, she couldn’t hold out for long.
After finishing lunch, she couldn’t resist turning her phone back on.
That’s when she saw he had called around eleven. And on her office desk, there was now a new market research report on autonomous vehicles.
After reading the report, she realized she had never truly understood the autonomous vehicle market.

In addition, Franklin had included some technical development directions in the report.
After going through it, her confidence in Wilson Tech’s future had been fully restored, and the anxiety she’d been carrying disappeared completely.
Thinking of all this, she steadied her emotions and said, “I didn’t bring my phone to the meeting earlier–that’s why I missed your call.”
“I know. Someone mentioned it to me.”
Which meant that, worried something had happened when she didn’t answer, he had contacted someone at her.

“Mhm,” Franklin replied. “The autonomous vehicle market is huge. If you can improve the product’s weaknesses, Wilson Tech still has great potential.”
“Got it,” Julia said, her tone growing softer without her realizing it. “How did Isabella’s parent–teacher meeting go?
Has she eaten?”
“It’s done,” he replied.
Julia wanted to chat a little longer, but just then another call came in. She quickly said goodbye to Franklin and hung up to get back to work.
Maggie hadn’t paid much attention to Franklin’s call.
She didn’t want to know who he was talking to, either.
Checking the time and seeing that Isabella’s afternoon classes were about to start, she ended the game.
Isabella, reluctant to part with her, hugged her and looked up. “Mommy, I want you to take me back to school.”
Franklin didn’t interrupt. He simply waited for Maggie’s decision.
The school wasn’t far from here, so Maggie agreed.
This time, Franklin didn’t follow them.
He simply looked at Maggie and said, “Thank you.”
Driving Isabella once in a while–how could that count as hard work?
The truly difficult days… were already behind her.
Maggie said nothing. She just looked down and patted Isabella’s head.
“Let’s go.”
“Okay!” Isabella beamed.
Holding her hand, she waved goodbye to Franklin and left with Maggie.
Franklin stood and watched them go before turning to leave himself.
