Chapter 356
Maggie wasn’t the only one counting down the days until her divorce–so were Johnny, Jimmy, and Harry.
Harry, in particular, was well aware that Thursday was supposed to be the day Maggie and Franklin officially finalized their divorce.
He had been traveling for work a lot lately, but he made sure to return home early Thursday morning.
After a few hours of rest, around 10 a.m., he couldn’t hold back any longer and called Levi.
“I’ve been swamped lately and haven’t had a proper meal with you and Franklin in a while,” he said. “How about we grab lunch together today–get Franklin to join us too?”
Levi replied casually,
“I’m good, but Franklin won’t be able to make it. He left the country on a business trip a few days ago. Still hasn’t returned.”
Harry’s heart tensed.
“Franklin… went abroad?”
So that meant… they didn’t go through with the divorce today?
He hadn’t been in close contact with either Franklin or Julia lately.
His call to Levi was mostly to test the waters–to confirm whether the divorce had officially gone through.
If it had… then today would’ve been his chance to-
But clearly, it hadn’t.
He steadied his voice and asked,
“Any idea when he’ll be back?”
Levi didn’t think much of it.
To be honest, he wasn’t as invested in the divorce anymore.
“I’m not sure,” he said. “You know how it is—he’s always swamped this time of year. Who knows how long this trip will last.”
Harry’s gaze lowered. He said nothing more.

Chapter 356
After hanging up, he stared at Maggie’s contact info on his phone.
He had thought today would be the right time to call her.
But it looked like… he’d have to wait a while longer.
Busy days passed quickly.
By Friday afternoon, Maggie was still buried in work when isabella called.
She said her school had officially started summer break, and with Franklin away, she wanted to come stay with her mother.
Maggie declined at first.
From the tone of Franklin’s last call, he had already been away for several days at that point.
She thought he’d be back soon.
But almost a full week had passed since, and there was still no sign of him.
After staying home alone for a few days, Isabella had finally had enough.
On Wednesday, she called Maggie again:
“Mom, Dad’s been away for so long now. I don’t like being home alone. Can I come stay with you?”
Hearing the loneliness in her daughter’s voice, Maggie’s hand tightened around the phone.
After a pause, she said gently,
“I’ll be home after work. For now, go to your grandma’s house and wait for me there.”
Hearing that her mother finally had time, Isabella lit up and immediately packed her things for the Miller family’s
home.
Everyone in the Miller family already knew that Franklin’s business trip had delayed the divorce.
That evening, during dinner, Madam Miller couldn’t help but ask Isabella,
“Isabella, do you know when your father will be back?”
The little girl, blissfully unaware of the tension between the adults, kept eating and answered truthfully,
“Daddy said he’s not sure yet. But when I talked to him on the phone yesterday, he said he probably wouldn’t make

it back in time for my birthday.”
Madam Miller frowned deeply at this.
It had already been nearly a week since the cooling off period ended, and Franklin’s return still had no date in sight.
Was he planning to come back only after the deadline passed?
If that happened… wouldn’t they have to wait for another cooling off period to file the divorce again?
Maggie also frowned when she heard this.
