In the next two or three days, Maggie remained as busy as ever.
Because she left early and came home late every day, even though Isabella had moved into the Miller family home, the mother and daughter didn’t actually spend much time together.

The old lady sighed and gently patted her hand.
“She’s still awake. Go upstairs and keep her company.”
Maggie nodded and went upstairs.
Upstairs, Isabella lay on her bed reading comics.
Seeing her come in, she casually greeted her,
“Mom’s home?”
“Mm.” Maggie put down her bag, paused for two seconds, then walked over.
“Sorry, Mom’s been busy at work, so…”
“I know.” Isabella looked up at her.
“Mom, I understand.”

“Mm, I came back especially to celebrate your birthday. It’s just after ten now. I made it in time.”
