Chapter 369
After Maggie and Yulia left, Julia stood frozen in place, dazed and unable to collect herself for a long time.
It wasn’t until Janice, who had been waiting at the restaurant, called to check her that she suddenly came back to her senses.
After hanging up, she entered the restaurant. Janice noticed her pale face and asked, “What’s wrong? Not feeling well?”
Julia shook her head. “No.”
Her voice was faint, as if all the strength had been drained from her. She looked lost, her mind clearly elsewhere, her whole demeanor off.
Janice frowned as she looked at her.
Not long after finishing dinner and returning home, Maggie received a message from Franklin:
[Something urgent came up in Los Angeles. After returning to the country, I’ll have to delay my trip to D City by two or three days.)
Maggie stared at the message, taking a deep breath, clearly upset.
But she herself had just missed an appointment not long ago, so no matter her frustration, she couldn’t express it. If it happened again, though….
She tossed her phone aside and went to take a shower.
The next morning, Maggie went to work at Cole as usual.
Seeing her back in the office after nearly half a month, Glen smiled, “You’re back?”

Since Glen had joined Cole, Maggie had taken several long leaves.
When Johnny mentioned she was dealing with personal matters, Glen had wondered what could take so long.

He just didn’t know whether her time off this round had been enough to finalize the divorce.
After chatting briefly, Maggie returned to her work.
Three days later, she still hadn’t heard from Franklin, but she received a call from his mother, Stella.
“The old lady is in critical condition due to H1N1 combined with COPD and respiratory failure. She’s in the ER at Central Hospital. She wants to see you.”
Maggie barely had time to be surprised. The moment she processed what was said, she grabbed her bag and rushed to the hospital.

York replied, “She’s still being resuscitated. Current condition is unknown.”
The butler, aware that Maggie and Franklin weren’t officially divorced yet, greeted her politely as well, “Young Madam.”
Maggie acknowledged him with a slight nod after a moment’s pause.
Then the butler added, “I’ve already contacted Franklin and Isabella. They’ve bought their tickets and should be arriving later today.”
Maggie: “Okay.”
Given the circumstances, even Maria, despite her dislike for Maggie, had no energy to pick a fight.
So after the butler finished speaking, silence once again fell over the group outside the emergency room.
Waiting always made time feel endlessly long.
At last, the doors to the emergency room opened.
Maggie, Stella, and the others quickly stepped forward.
“Doctor, how’s my mother–in–law?”
“Doctor, how’s my grandmother?”
The doctor pulled down his mask and said,
“We managed to resuscitate her, but her condition is very unstable. Whether she makes it will depend on her own will to fight.”
