Chapter 8
When I stayed silent, Ponto Spencer could no longer hold back. He spoke up, kus voice ac
with frustration.
“Enough!” he shouted, striding over to Fenny Chow and grabbing her by the arm “it’s all my fault. You did everything to avoid me wearing the green hat, even offending, Yon end
king blows, and yet I hesitated earlier. I’m not even a man.”
I stood frozen in shock. Was this man seriously that out of touch? Did he really believe onda a poorly constructed lie? I scoffed, “So, what are you saying? Do you want me to leave? Do
you want a divorce?”
Ponto hesitated for a moment before responding, “Whether we divorce or not depata
you.”
“I’ll give you two options,” he continued. “First, divorce, You leave my house, and after that, you’re not allowed to gossip about me outside.”
“Second, no divorce. You’ll still be Mrs. Spencer, but only outside. At home, Fenny will be my lover. You’ll just be a guest. You must show her respect. If Fenny and I have children, you’ll have to claim them as your own and treat them like your biological kids.”
“As long as you follow these rules, I’ll let you bring your bastard child back and treat him like a servant to my own children.”
His words left me utterly stunned. I was speechless, but Ponto ignored me, turning to Fenny with an apologetic expression. “Fenny, I know this is unfair to you, but right now, this is the
best solution I can think of.”
“Don’t worry,” he added softly, “She will only have a title, everything else is yours. I will
love you, and only you.”
Fenny sniffled and nodded, looking both sad and grateful. “Okay, as long as I can be with you, I’ll accept anything. Who told me I love you so much?”
Watching their tender exchange, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.
