After that day, Ponto Spencer occasionally sent me messages apologizing, starting with “We were married for so long; don’t I deserve a little help?” and slowly changing into
“Let’s be honest, haven’t I made some mistakes? If you haven’t had a child, why didn’t you explain? Why didn’t you go to the doctor with me? Why did you insist on divorcing me?”
No matter what he said, I never responded. I kept my silence for half a month. Then one day, Fenny Chow arrived. Wearing a mask and hat, she was escorted in by the butler, looking like a thief.
As soon as she saw me, she removed her mask, revealing several distinct slap marks on her face. I smiled faintly. “What’s this? Are you going to accuse me of slapping you again?”
Fenny looked around at the mansion, which was at least three times the size of the Spencer family villa, and her expression was one of envy.
“You shameless woman. Now that we’re divorced, why are you still trying to seduce my husband? What did you say to him? Why did he come home and hit me?”
So this was what it was about. I said coldly, “I only told him the truth.”
Fenny, glaring at me as though she wanted to tear me apart, hissed,
“The truth? Ha. Do you really think I’m blind? You live in a house that’s a hundred times grander than anything the Spencer family can offer. You’re just a gold–digger, and there’s
no way you could afford such a place on your own.
She paused, as if savoring the insult, then added,
“You must have other men besides Ponto Spencer, ones who can give you this kind of luxury. And they’re probably old enough to be your grandfather, right?”
“We’re cut from the same cloth, you and I. The only difference is, I’m not as greedy for
money. You, on the other hand, will do anything for it.”
“I’m telling you this now–stay away from my husband. If you dare say another word to

Fenny ranted on like a machine gun, her words sharp and cutting. Only when she had finished did I finally get a chance to speak. “Hasn’t Ponto told you about my family background?”
