Chapter 17
With that thought, I coldly waved my hand. “Don’t project your narrow thoughts onto me. I’m not that kind of love–struck fool.”
Fenny didn’t believe me. “Impossible! You care so much about your figure, is it not for
Ponto Spencer?”
When she mentioned having children, both Ponto and I flinched, but Fenny, seemingly
oblivious, kept on talking.
“It’s not that you didn’t work hard on your fitness, it’s just that after pregnancy, your uterus
expands, and your belly sags. It’s very hard to return to how it was before.”
“Why do you think I’d want that rotten cucumber of Ponto Spencer’s?” I snapped.
Fenny froze for a moment.
“But–but
you have everything now because of me. If it weren’t for me, your family would
have lost five hundred billion. You might even have been murdered by Ponto Spencer.”
“How can you be so ungrateful? You should be thanking me. It was me who exposed Ponto as a scumbag. Did I say anything wrong?”
I knew there was no reasoning with someone like her. I immediately called for the butler to
remove Fenny from my house.
After the butler escorted her out, he returned, looking as if he wanted to say something but held back. Only when I pressed him did he finally speak up.
“After Miss Chow left, she was… no, actually, Ponto Spencer attacked her. He didn’t even
care that it was right in front of our door, and hit her.”
“I’m glad you’re divorced from him. Otherwise, I really don’t want to imagine what would have happened if such a man had gotten powerful.”
I nodded. It’s true–men like him, who are too weak to take responsibility, always blame everything on women. They never think about owning their mistakes.
Chapter 17
But it’s almost over.
I had heard that Ponto Spencer’s company was already in the process of bankruptcy
liquidation. Soon enough, he would learn what it means to “take responsibility.”
