Chapter 6
When news of my divorce spread, it shook the entire elite circle.
Even while I was still in the cooling–off period, various people kept trying to win me over.
One day it was 9,999 roses, the next it was Louis XIV’s ancestral jewels, and later someone
howed up with a cruise ship.
As for this, the only person who ever poured cold water on me was Cabot Wilson.
“The heir to a billion–dollar fortune is about to reenter the dating market, and most of them are after your money. Don’t get carried away, and don’t choose another scumbag like that
last one.”
I glared at the man sitting confidently on my rabbit–fur couch, munching on chips, and
couldn’t help but feel frustrated.
“Cabot Wilson, don’t you have a couch at home? Why do you always have to come here?”
“It’s more comfortable here,” he replied with an air of shameless pride.
I decided to tease him, “Then what kind of man do you think I should find?”
He thought for a moment. “Someone from the same social standing, I guess. That way, it won’t just be about your money.”
I laughed. “With my father’s wealth, who else could possibly match me? You?”
After all, my father and Cabot’s uncle were regulars at the top of the Forbes list.
It was meant to be a joke, but then Cabot Wilson suddenly sat up, looking at me with a serious expression.
“Yes, it’s me. What’s wrong with that?”
I was momentarily at a loss for words as I gazed into his clear, passionate eyes.
Just then, the butler arrived with a report.

Chapter 6
“Miss Davis, Lukas Clark and his parents are causing a scene at the house again. Mr. and
Mrs. Davis have already left to avoid them. They want you to leave as well, so you won’t be ‘disturbed.”
“Ridiculous! This is my house, why should I leave?”
I stood up. “I’ll go take a look and see what kind of show they’re putting on.”
“Good show? I’m coming with you.” Cabot Wilson naturally followed behind me.
When we entered the living room, Lukas Clark and his parents were sitting on the couch, their faces dark with anger.
The moment Lukas saw me, his eyes lit up, and he rushed over to grab my hand.
“Urja, you’re finally here! I’ve been thinking about you every day these past few days…”
I interrupted him coldly, “Lukas Clark, watch your words and actions. We’re still in the
cooling–off period.”
He froze, awkwardly retracting his hand.
Lukas’s mother gave me a displeased look. “Urja Davis, don’t be too much! Our Lukas has
humbled himself to beg you so many times. What more do you want?”
“Humbled himself?”
I scoffed. “Is he trying to win me back, or is he trying to win back his cash cow?”
Lukas’s father spoke in a stern tone. “Urja, the union between our families is a win–win
situation. Why do you have to make things so ugly?”
“Ugly?” I shot back. “Who was it that betrayed the marriage first? Who turned a blind eye while their lover caused losses to the company?”
In front of them, I presented the evidence that Faraf had made a mistake in the contract.
Lukas Clark hurriedly tried to explain. “Urja, I’ve told you countless times, it was a misunderstanding…”

“Enough!” I snapped, cutting him off. “Lukas Clark, you want to have all the benefits, but
life doesn’t work that way!”
“If you want the title of Davis family’s son–in–law, you’d better know your own worth. Keep your lower half in check and see if you’re even worthy of it!”
“If you want love, go back to Faraf. Don’t come here and disgust me!”
Lukas Clark was left speechless.
His mother, however, wasn’t willing to back down. “Urja Davis, don’t be so arrogant! Do you
think our Lukas can’t find someone better than you?”
“And you,” she sneered, “even though your family is rich, you’re a divorced woman. Do you
really think there will be any man willing to marry you?”
Of all the Clark family members, she was the one with the least sense, convinced that her
son was the best man in the world.
I curled my lips and glanced at Cabot Wilson, who had been standing beside me the entire
time.
“It’s time for you to make a statement.”
Cabot Wilson, suddenly called out, paused for a moment before naturally putting his arm
around my shoulders.
“As a man who’s a hundred times better than Lukas Clark, I am honored to be with Urja Davis.” He smiled at the Clark family, “And by the way, she just accepted my proposal.”
The room went silent in shock.
