Sadly, Vincent didn’t notice. He continued to profess his love, declaring his devotions

I swallowed my bitterness, slowly pulling my hand from his embrace.

He gripped my hand tightly, panic in his voice, as if afraid that letting go would mean me forever.

Looking at the lipstick stain on his collar, I trembled as I withdrew my hand. “You’re dirty. Go wash up.
With that, I went back to the bedroom.
After a while, Vincent returned, changed into pajamas.
He lay down gently beside me and offered an explanation: “I noticed a lipstick mark on my collar while showering… Probably got it by accident. Don’t misunderstand, Kaylee.

“Alright. Let’s just sleep”
In the days that followed, Vincent came home early every night from the lab, even making me breakfast himself.
“Kaylee, once we’re married, I’ll do the cooking, and all you’ll have to do is enjoy the food!”
Listening to him fantasize about our future, I stayed calm, not saying a word.

Sunday, 7 a.m.
Vincent got up early, packing for our trip.
“Kaylee, I promised to take you to Disneyland this weekend. Let’s head out early and drive there ourselves.”
I paused, surprised he still remembered.
Since he did, I decided to give him one last chance.
I’d end things with him at Disneyland.
Without much thought, I nodded.
We went downstairs, but as soon as we reached the parking lot, we encountered an unexpected guest–Alina.
“There you are, Vincent,” she greeted with a wave, her high ponytail giving off a youthful energy, a stark contrast from the sultry look she’d worn at the pool.
A chill settled over me. I looked at Vincent. “I thought it was just the two of us?”
Vincent’s expression faltered, and he stammered, “Alina is coming too. She couldn’t get a train ticket, so I offered her a ride.”
I laughed bitterly to myself.
Perhaps this trip wasn’t about taking me to Disneyland but rather about bringing Alina along.

Before I could say anything, Alina opened the passenger door and looked back at me.
“I get carsick and can only sit in the front. Vincent always says you’re considerate, so you won’t mind, right?”
I forced a smile. What was there to mind? I didn’t even want this man anymore, let alone the front seat.
“Go ahead.”
Vincent noticed the edge in my tone but still let Alina get in the car.
As we drove toward Shanghai, I closed my eyes, pretending to nap, and overheard Vincent asking Alina in a low voice,
“When you asked on WhatsApp about going to Disneyland, you said you’d tell me why once we were in the car. Can you tell me now?”
Alina replied playfully, “I’m meeting up with a cute guy I met online.”
Hearing this, I opened my eyes just in time to see Vincent’s face darken.
