Chapter 10
I pretended to have just woken up and took the bowl of milk, drinking it all in one go.
“Austin, you’re so good to me.”
His large hand ruffled my hair.
“Good girl, go back to sleep for a while.”
“Mhm.”
As soon as I lay down, Austin’s phone rang. He glanced at me lying on the bed, then left the
room to answer the call. I didn’t need to guess who was on the other end of the line.
Even though I had mentally prepared myself, the tears still fell uncontrollably.
I couldn’t understand why, after being together for ten years, he would betray me. Even
that 20% of the shares he wanted to steal from me.
But what he didn’t know was that I had already prepared the contract to transfer the shares to him as a gift for our marriage.
Two months passed, and during these two months, I kept avoiding Austin for various reasons, creating opportunities for him and Daniela to be alone.
Meanwhile, I was quietly collecting evidence of their affair, and the two of them grew
bolder.
Valentine’s Day arrived in the blink of an eye. In the past, Austin would always take time off, make detailed plans, and take me out to relax.
Over the ten years, we had traveled all over America. Though we had already met each other’s parents and set a wedding date, he had said he wanted to give me a proper proposal next Valentine’s Day.
I was full of anticipation–until I found out about the affair.
I thought he had long forgotten about this, and there I was, sitting alone at home, still

holding on to a sliver of hope, wondering if he’d remember, if it would be like befor
My phone buzzed. I quickly opened it, but instead of a message inviting me out, it was a hotel booking record.
I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly, thinking how all my efforts over the past ten years were in vain, ultimately unable to stand against the true nature of his heart.
Idiot, he probably even forgot that the software was linked to my phone number.
I had baited him for months, and now it was time to reel him in.
I quickly adjusted my mood, sent the hotel location to Daniela’s husband, and followed the
GPS to the hotel alone.
Once I arrived, I put my phone in my pocket, opened the recording app, and knocked on the
hotel room door.
“Knock knock knock.”
I knocked twice, my hands steady. I had seen too many cheating confrontations, and now it was happening to me. On the outside, I pretended not to care, but deep down, I was only trying to maintain composure.
“Who’s there?”
A woman’s voice came from inside. I didn’t answer. The door opened, and it was a stranger–someone I had never seen before, appearing to be in her early twenties.
“Who are you?”
Just as I thought I might have mistaken the room, I caught sight of Austin lying in bed,
topless.
Without thinking, I pushed past the woman and stormed inside.
“Austin, you’re really playing around, huh?”
Clearly, Austin hadn’t expected me to show up. He looked flustered and tried to get up to explain, but he wasn’t even wearing pants.
Chapter 10
I could hear the sound of a shower running in the bathroom, and through the frosted glass, I could vaguely make out the shape of another woman.
Just as I was about to open the bathroom door, Austin quickly stepped in front of me.
“Angela, please let me explain.”
“Shut up!”
apped him without hesitation, using all my strength to push him aside. Austin quickly put on his clothes, but I yanked open the bathroom door. Daniela, still showering, was
startled when she saw me.
My eyes landed on the shelf beside the bed, where I saw the dress I had lost.
The sight of it made me laugh with anger. I grabbed Daniela by the arm and dragged her out, making her cry out in pain.
“Let go of me, let go…”
I struggled to control my emotions.
“Austin, is this what you call just being friends? I must say, I’ve never seen such an honest display of friendship before.”
I then grabbed the young woman who had opened the door earlier. She looked like she had just graduated from college, and I never imagined she’d be involved in something so filthy.
“You’re new here. Was this
your
choice?”
The girl remained silent, her head lowered. The more she acted like this, the angrier I
became.
I raised my hand again and slapped Austin. I didn’t know how much force I used, but his cheek immediately turned red and swollen. My right hand went numb instantly, a sharp pain shooting through my palm, but at least the pain in my hand made the pain in my heart feel less intense.
“That necklace was meant for her, wasn’t it?”

I asked, my eyes red. Austin didn’t dare look me in the eye. Before he could answer, Daniela spoke up,
“That necklace was originally a gift from Austin to me. You should consider yourself lucky that he even gave it to you.”
I was annoyed by her incessant chatter, so I slapped her again.
“When did I ask you? Austin, if you’re a man, then answer me: yes or no.”
After a long pause, Austin finally responded, “Yes…”
I turned my gaze to the side, my fist tightening, nails digging into my flesh.
