Chapter 3
Sometime later, Patrick returned.
He gently covered me with a warm blanket, his expression soft and difficult to describe.
“The night is cold. I’ll stay here with you.”
His large hand enveloped my cold one, and I saw a flash of pity in his eyes.
I couldn’t understand.
Is this what people mean by having many sides to them?
How could the same person who shamelessly betrayed me also show this tender concern?
How could the same man who covered me with a blanket be the one who had defiled my grandfather’s memorial?
I withdrew my hand from his, trying not to let the pain and resentment overwhelm me.
Patrick’s hand froze in the air.
He tried to comfort me, but I remained silent, kneeling, not giving him any attention.
When he saw I wouldn’t respond, a flash of impatience crossed his face.
His tone was still gentle, but his expression was one of annoyance.
That face, so full of contradictions, made me feel torn.
Maybe in the years I had been blind, Patrick had already grown tired of me, just like now.
He had taken advantage of my blindness, acting as he pleased.
I stayed as long as he did.
The next morning, before I could even see his face, he sent me a voice message.

Chapter 3
“Honey, there’s something at the company, I’m heading back. Stay warm and take care of yourself. Love you.”
It seemed sweet and loving, didn’t it?
If only I hadn’t seen him holding Snow’s hand, laughing and walking away from the house.
Once he left, I felt strangely relieved.
could never go back to the way things were with him.
I pulled out my phone and dialed the number I hadn’t called in five years.
The call was quickly picked up, and I could hear the joy and excitement in his voice.
“Linda Smith?”
I trembled and whispered, “Hey.”
“I’m planning to go abroad.”
Jack Miller replied instantly.
“Really?”
“Would you come with me?”
