Chapter 7
Over the phone, my daughter’s sobs were heart wrenching
“Where’s Daddy? I want Daddy. There’s no Daddy at the other hospital I don’t want to go.”
A wave of bitterness surged in my heart. How could I explain her father’s betrayal to her?
Atigos pres Aftery open
“Daddy’s hurt, sweetheart. He can’t work right now. You wouldn’t see him even if you mayed. Be good, okay? Let’s go to another hospital Once you’re better, we can go home.”
“Dolt you want to stay with Mommy? Momay misses you so much.”
It took a lot of coaxing, but she finally stopped crying.
In the room, the beating had ako subsided.
Ethan seized the opportunity to call the police.
But I had already instructed the hotel to disable the hallway cameras.
The cameras inside the room couldn’t capture the faces of those throwing punches either.

Hearing the security report, I ended the live stream and began dispersing the enraged
families
As the crowd thinned, Ethan angrily called the front desk.
“What kind of service is this? Where’s your manager? Get them here right now!”
“Do you think I won’t sue you? I’ll ruin you! Get your manager over here now!”
Hanging up, he noticed his phone’s notifications.
Of the top ten trending topics, half were about him.
Clicking into them, he saw videos from the live stream showing him being beaten.
Chapter 7
Netizens had already uncovered his identity, hospital, and department.
Ethan finally panicked, frantically trying to call his superiors.
But their phones had been inundated with calls from reporters.
No matter how many times he dialed, all he got was the automated “phone is turned off”
message.
esperate, he typed out a long explanation, begging his bosses not to believe the online rumors and promising to clarify everything when he returned.
The reply came quickly but was devastatingly simple:
“Don’t bother coming back.‘

He turned off his phone in defeat, only then realizing the camera in the room had been placed at an unusual angle.
Recalling his actions, he searched the room and found the hidden camera.
Gritting his teeth in fury, he prepared to demand answers from the hotel.
Just then, I stepped into the room, a cold smile on my face.
“Looking for me, Ethan?”
For a moment, a storm of emotions flashed across his face–fear, panic, helplessness,
unease.
Whether from the beating or sheer terror, his face was ashen.
“Darling, what are you doing here?” he stammered.
His eyes quickly scanned the room, relaxing slightly when he saw no sign of Claire.
“Did you see what’s online? Don’t believe it–it’s all fake! Someone’s trying to frame me!”
“They’re just jealous of my promotions these past two years. Don’t let them ruin us!”
Chapter 7
“Let’s go home. I’ll explain everything once we’re back…”
He hobbled forward, trying to embrace me, but I stepped back, keeping my distance.
His bruised and swollen hand froze in mid–air.
Just days ago, he had complained to his friends about wanting to divorce me.
Now that he was in trouble, I had become his lifeline.
He was so desperate he was willing to swallow his pride and grovel.
I couldn’t believe I had once fallen for such a man.
The depth of my blindness was almost laughable.
Once the disappointment passed, I calmly pulled out the divorce papers I had prepared and
threw them at his face.
“Sign it. We’re done.”
Ethan’s eyes widened in disbelief as he read the papers.
“You want a divorce? Are you joking?”
“I don’t agree!”
“I’ve been framed! Why don’t you believe me?”
“You’re the only one I love, darling!”
His knees buckled, and he knelt before me, wrapping his arms around my legs with a look
of pure desperation.
Had I not seen that footage, I might have been fooled by his stellar acting.
But now, I felt nothing but disgust.
I didn’t even want to waste another word on him.
