Chapter 2
Actually, this brand releases a limited edition every year. The quality doesn’t very much, it’s the design that changes slightly each time.
It’s just a marketing gimmick designed for rich, idle people–mainly for the novelty and rarity of it, not anything particularly special,
But I do like their designs, so I usually make sure to get my hands on every year’s limited edition right away.
I never expected this year’s edition to be snatched up by Anund’s secretary, Lynn Taylor–using my money, no less. How unlucky,
As soon as I said this, the women who had been surrounding Lynn Taylor immediately turned toward me, their eyes as wide as saucers.
“Wow, Ms. Miller, you’re so generous! You’re just giving us such an expensive necklace!”
“I want one, I want one! Please, give me a necklace! Thank you, Ms. Miller, for helping me realize my dream! Ms. Miller, I love you!”
“Oh my god, there’s even a limited edition from the year 2000! Ms. Miller, keep that one for me! It’s way more expensive than Lynn’s!”
The women chattered excitedly, pushing their way toward me. In the chaos, they knocked Lynn Taylor to the floor.
“Cough! What’s going on here? Pushing people down first thing in the morning and not
even apologizing!”
I hadn’t noticed when Anund walked in, but he immediately reached down and helped Lynn Taylor up. She nestled against him, looking wronged.
“Anund, look at these women who’ve never seen anything. Just a few necklaces and they’re acting like this…”
“Alright, alright, I’ll buy you a few more in the future.”
When Anund looked up, he saw me surrounded by the women, and he froze.
Without thinking, he pushed Lynn Taylor away from his chest and looked at me with a face full of awkwardness.
“Ms. Miller… you’re here so early… I… I was just helping Lynn because she fell…”
I raised an eyebrow and smiled, looking at the pair of them with amusement.
h? Really? This necklace is nice. It looks just like the one I reserved earlier. You didn’t buy it yourself, did you?”
Upon hearing this, both Anund and Lynn Taylor went pale. They exchanged a panicked look.
Anund swallowed hard and cleared his throat, forcing himself to calm down.
“I bought it for her. After all, she frequently accompanies me on business trips. It helps improve the company’s image.”
“Sorry, Ms. Miller, this necklace is too expensive for me. I… I’ll return it to you…”
I raised an eyebrow and sneered.
“It’s just a few million for this cheap necklace. Besides, it’s already been worn. It’s too dirty for me, so you can keep it.”
Lynn Taylor’s face alternated between red and white. She kept glancing at Anund, as if hoping he would speak up and defend her.
But Anund kept his head down like a frightened bird, not daring to say a word.
What could he say? His black card was given to him by me. Every penny he spent was my money. Does he even deserve to say anything? Does he dare?
In front of everyone, Lynn Taylor, red–faced, quickly squeezed through the crowd and returned to her desk.
I watched her hurried and awkward retreat, and I couldn’t help but chuckle.
