Chapter 6
I glanced at Jake and said, “Grant Colson slapped me with his right hand.”
“Understood.”
Jake pulled out his phone, dialed a number, and said, “Crush the bear’s paw–right hand.”
I added, “Nicole’s family should also go bankrupt.”
Jake nodded. “I’ll handle that personally. With Brian’s cooperation, it won’t be difficult.”
It really wasn’t difficult.
I always started business dealings with goodwill.
But if anyone dared to block my path, I was the most ruthless person they’d ever meet.
After arranging some tasks, I left the club and got into my car–a domestic model.
“It really is a domestic car?”
Caroline Wade whispered from a hidden corner.
Grant Colson, his head wrapped in bandages, replied, “Sis, that’s a Lincoln. It costs over eight million on the lot. This one must be custom–modified and won’t go for less than fifteen million. Plus, you can’t just buy it with money. It requires political clearance and significant social contributions to
qualify.”
“Cut it out. A domestic car costing that much? Get real,” Caroline scoffed.
But Nicole’s face grew even paler. “It really is that expensive.”
A bitter sense of helplessness welled up in her heart.
The people around her couldn’t even recognize the car’s value, yet Jake fiercely protected Bonnie
Bryson.
The gap between them was obvious.
Nicole drove back to her company and met her father.
The Billionaire’s Hidden Daughter:
Well? Did you resolve it?” her father asked engerly.
Nicole let out a breath of relief. “Bonnie Bryson said she wouldn’t hold a grudge. She said she’s at businesswoman and wouldn’t sacrifice mutual benefits over personal disputes. She even mentioned discussing the collaboration with you. She’s truly operating on a level I can’t match.”
Her father nodded at first, then suddenly stood up from behind his desk.
“She said she wouldn’t hold a grudge and still wants to discuss collaboration with me?” he asked loudly.
“Yes,” Nicole confirmed.
Her father slammed the desk. “I just did a background check on this Ms. Bryson. On the surface, she seems amicable, but anyone who’s ever crossed her hasn’t come out unscathed. One heir from Capital City ended up trapped abroad for two and a half years because of her schemes–and he lost
his life!”
Nicole looked incredulous. “Dad, aren’t you overthinking this?”
“Don’t leave the office. Stay here, and I’ll arrange for security to protect you. Let me deal with this first,” her father said urgently.
Just then, Nicole’s phone rang.
When she answered, Caroline’s panicked cries came through the line. “Nicole, come quick! Something’s happened to Grant. We were hit by a car, and his right hand was crushed!”
“What?” Nicole Tanner demanded sharply. “Who did it? Do you know them?”
“No, just an ordinary office worker,” Caroline Wade replied.
Nicole said, “Take him to the hospital first.”
She hung up and turned to see her father still there.
“What happened?” her father asked.
Nicole briefly explained the situation.
Her father frowned and thought for a moment. “I’ll send someone to protect you. Go to the hospital, ask about it in person, and say some nice things. Grant’s easy to manipulate–he could still be useful.”
Itwasn’t long before Nicole arrived at the hospital.
The Billionaire’s Hidden Daughter
By then, Grant’s surgery had finished. Nicole waited until evening for him to regain consciousness.
As soon as he woke up, Nicole began questioning him. After a moment to gather himself, Grant stared at her and said, “I slapped Bonnie Bryson… with my right hand!”
“Hiss-” Nicole gasped. “That ruthless?”
Taking a deep breath, she stepped aside to make a call to her father.
Shortly after, she returned and spoke with Grant for quite some time.
Meanwhile, I had finally tracked down Justin Wells.
took me an entire day to locate him, and I discovered he was living in the Bentley District.
When I arrived, only Tina was at home.
She recognized me and opened the door.
The little girl was so adorable, her voice soft as she called me “uncle” and even washed fruit for me.
But as I bit into an apple, I noticed her swallowing hungrily.
It was clear that eating fruit was a rare luxury for her.
