Love Story3–Chapter 1
It was the sixtieth anniversary of the school’s founding, and my boyfriend, Landon Banks, who had.
been out of contact all summer, suddenly showed up.
He tossed a bank card in front of me, his face cold and indifferent.
“I know everything now. Take the money back. Let’s break up.”
Landon was a student from a poor background. For the past three years, I had been secretly supporting him financially, hiding my true identity.
Confused, I asked,
“Is it just because I’m your sponsor that you want to break up?”
He looked at me with disdain.
“You’re nothing but a fake heiress who was kicked out of the Tanner family. Worthless. You won’t be able to help me with my career in the future.”
“Now, I’ve found a real backer.”
Landon Banks looked exhausted, his swollen cheek bearing a scabbed wound. My heart ached as I hugged him.
“Landon, have you been hauling bricks at the construction site again?”
“Don’t worry about money. I have money. I can help you. If you hurt yourself like this, it pains
Landon’s eyes turned red, but he remained silent.
The next second, he pushed me away roughly, his expression mocking.
“Caroline Tanner, stop pretending. How much money can a fake heiress like you have? The Tanner family in South City kicked you out long ago. You’re worthless to me.”
“Over the past three years, you’ve given me a total of 150,000. This card has a million in it–more than enough to repay you with interest. From now on, we have nothing to do with each other.”

Oh, and by the way, I already have a new girlfriend. Don’t bother me anymore.”
stared at him, dumbfounded. It had only been one summer break, and he already had a new
girlfriend?
Yet, on my phone, I still had messages from him last night asking if I was doing well, expressing his
care.
I used to be the daughter of South City’s wealthiest family, the Tanners. That was until I turned sixteen and the real heiress, Stella Tanner, was brought home.

It was then I discovered I was just a fake heiress, adopted from an orphanage.
Not long after, Stella and my adoptive parents forced me out of the house.
“You’ve eaten our food for over ten years. It’s already generous that we’re not making you work as a servant to repay us. Now get lost.”
And just like that, I was thrown out, penniless.
Fortunately, three years ago, I found my biological parents. Their circumstances were no worse than
the Tanners‘.
Afraid of worrying them, I never told them about my past.
Because I loved this city, I enrolled at South City University, where I met Landon Banks.
Landon came from a struggling family and had a chronically ill mother. His pride was strong despite
his circumstances.
I had wanted to help him more, but he only accepted enough money to buy medicine for his mother. He even sent promissory notes to his sponsor via the school.
His tuition and living expenses were covered by working multiple part–time jobs.
Left with no other choice, I showered him with gifts whenever I had the chance, treating him to lavish meals.
Worried he might feel burdened, I told him I was a wealthy heiress with money to spare and asked for his help in lightening my financial “burden.”
On the surface, Landon didn’t say much, but every time he earned money from his part–time jobs, he
gave it all to me.

how, dons he think I Hood about being a Tanner heiress and that I’m just a penniless fraud trying to
an a favor with breakup money?
But this an called “million” is nothing to me–not even worth a strand of hair.
After three years Together, I thought I knew Landon Banks well enough.
I pushed the bank card away and asked softly,
“Landon, I don’t want you to pay me back. Everything I’ve done for you was from the heart.”
“I just want to hear the truth. Why?”
hit his lip and was about to speak when a mocking voice came from the doorway:
“Why else? My boyfriend thinks your money is dirty.”
I frowned. I had heard that Stella Tanner had gone abroad. I didn’t expect her to not only return but also enroll at this university.
Originally, Mr. and Mrs. Tanner treated me decently. But Stella resented me for “stealing” her life for over ten years and deliberately sabotaged me. In the end, she turned her parents against me, and they kicked me out.
What a small world.
