Chapter 4
“Oh my, has Caroline lost her mind? She’s spewing any lie she can think of! Everyone knows that after the Forbs family’s biological daughter was kidnapped, the chairman and his wife never had more children. Just recently, they announced they’d attend South City University’s anniversary celebration to recognize their goddaughter. And they made it clear–the goddaughter’s last name is Tanner. Obviously, it’s our Stella!”
“Look at all of South City–who else but the Tanner family has the clout to connect with the Forbs family? Stella is clearly the goddaughter they’re recognizing. And you, fake heiress, are nothing!”
In truth, my parents had long wanted me to change my last name back and reveal my true identity to the world.
But I didn’t want the attention, so I refused.
Once my identity was made public, countless wealthy families would try to form marriage alliances
At the time, I already had Landon and didn’t want my identity to bring him any danger. That’s why I never told him about my biological parents.
After all, in the world of the wealthy, people would do anything for profit. Crushing someone like Landon, with no money or background, was as easy as swatting a fly.
I had planned to wait until I graduated, took over the family business, and was strong enough to protect him before revealing my identity.
But just a few days ago, my parents told me they had thought it over. They felt they owed me too much over the years. If I liked Landon, they were willing to accept him and offer him their full
support.
As long as they publicly acknowledged Landon as their future son–in–law, no one would dare
him.

That was when I agreed to formally return to the Forbs family. My parents were overjoyed and promised to bring reporters to the school’s anniversary celebration to announce that I was the heiress and future successor of Forbs Corporation.
Stella grew impatient and signaled to her lackeys.
Just as they started surrounding me, the counselor suddenly appeared at the door, her voice stern.

What are you all doing?!”
group of people bullying a young woman–aren’t you all supposed to be adults? Do you have no morality or decency?”
I found it strange. At this time, the counselor should’ve been at the field overseeing the anniversary ceremony. Why did she suddenly show up here?
The counselor helped
to my feet and began leading me toward the door.
We had only taken a few steps when Stella’s lackeys blocked the exit.
“Stella Tanner, what do you think you’re doing? Don’t forget, you’re still standing in a university
Classroom, and I am your teacher,” the counselor said angrily.
Stella shrugged and replied arrogantly,
“A teacher? Someone like you? Calling you a teacher is giving you face. Without it, you’re nothing
but a beggar in our eyes. Do you really think I care about you?”
The others burst into laughter, clearly sharing her sentiment.
“But I am curious–how did you know we were here?”
At her signal, her lackeys wrestled the counselor’s phone from him despite his struggles.
Stella took the phone, stared at it for a moment, and her expression darkened. Taking a baseball bat handed to her by someone nearby, she swung it hard against Landon Banks‘ leg.
“I knew it was you, you pathetic rat. Every time I ask you to sleep with me, you come up with some excuse. But when it comes to calling reinforcements for Caroline Tanner, you pull out all the stops.
“Once I’m done with this slut, I’ll deal with you properly tonight.”
I was stunned. Was it Landon who had called the counselor? Was he trying to save me?
Landon collapsed to the ground in pain, and I yelled anxiously,
“Stella Tanner, come at me if you have the guts, but leave him alone!”
Stella gave me a sinister smile.
“You think you’ll get off that easily? Everyone, strip her!”

The counselor was held down, unable to move, while Landon struggled to crawl toward me, only to De kicked in the stomach by one of Stella’s Inckeys.
Stella raised the baseball bat high and swung it toward my head.
“Let’s add some color to your future art video. That’ll make it more exciting.”
“But you know, a one–woman show is boring. Why don’t we shoot a duet with counselor? That’ll really give Landon something to enjoy.”
Blood streamed down my forehead, blurring my vision.
