Chapter 5
The group began tearing at my and the counselor’s clothes, and all I could hear was Landon’s anguished cries.
One of Stella’s lackeys flattered her.
“Stella, we’re all doing this for you today. When you meet your godparents, don’t forget to say something nice about our families‘ businesses.”
She raised an eyebrow.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’re all rewarded.”
“Speaking of which, my godparents are so low–profile. I don’t even know what they look like yet. They better not be ugly–that would be such an embarrassment to me.”
Just as I was stripped down to my underwear, several figures appeared at the doorway.
“Stella? Are you in here? Mr. and Mrs. Forbs have arrived. Hurry and come out!” Mrs. Tanner’s voice
called out.
Stella’s face lit up with joy. She pushed through the crowd at the doorway and saw the school principal, her parents, a tall and elegant young woman, and a pair of unfamiliar middle–aged individuals.
The young woman was stunningly beautiful, and Stella immediately felt a surge of hatred. She despised girls who were prettier than her–surely, this one was just as worthless as Caroline Tanner.
As for the middle–aged couple, their understated yet elegant attire and extraordinary demeanor made it clear–they must be Mr. and Mrs. Forbs, the chairman and his wife of Forbs Corporation
Stella Tanner immediately put on a sweet smile and exclaimed,
“Godfather, godmother, hello!”
Mr. Forbs frowned, just about to speak, when Stella suddenly widened her eyes, staring at him in
shock.
She spun around and slapped me hard across the face.
You filthy slut! How dare you have an affair with my godfather?!”

Only then did everyone notice that Mr. Forbs looked exactly like the middle aged man in the earlier
photos.
“Wow, Caroline Tanner really has some tricks up her sleeve, huh? To seduce someone like Mr.
Forbs…”
“Do you think she’ll retaliate against us?”
“What are you afraid of? Stella is about to become the heiress of Forbs Corporation. With her backing us, we’re untouchable. Besides, everyone knows Mr. Forbs is scared of his wife. Caroline’s just the mistress in this situation. Stella’s standing up for her godmother!”
“So Caroline’s finished, huh? Serves her right.”
Landon Banks, despite his injuries, crawled over and shielded me protectively.
“Stella, I’ve done everything you asked. Please keep your word and let Caroline go.”
Stella patted his face mockingly and said with a smirk.
“Landon, I’d love to let her go, but she had the audacity to have an affair with my godfather. Do you think my godmother will let her off?”
“You know how powerful Forbs Corporation is. If they want someone dead, it’s as easy as snapping their fingers. She brought this on herself.”
Landon reached out, trying to grab the photos, but Stella stomped on his hand viciously.
With the photos in hand, she presented them to Mrs. Forbs as if offering a treasure.
“Godmother, look–this is evidence of that tramp having an affair with godfather.”
“But of course, you can’t blame godfather for this. A filthy woman like Caroline Tanner would ule any despicable trick to seduce a man. He must have been tricked by her.”
Playing both sides–what a performance.
The counselor, seeing the university principal, quickly spoke up.
“Principal, Stella Tanner and her group assaulted Caroline Tanner. This behavior is unacceptable. and must result in expulsion!”
The counselor was new and didn’t know much about the Tanner or Forbs families. But the principal,

Stella really became the Forbs‘ goddaughter, she would be untouchable. The principal Ammediately snapped,

“Silence! Stella is a wealthy and well–educated young lady. How could she possibly bully a worthless girl like Caroline?”
“It must be Carow
disgraceful behavior that brought shame to the university. Stella acted
of concern for the school’s reputation. She should be commended, not punished. It’s Caroline who should be expelled!”
The Tanner couple eagerly nodded in agreement, fawning over Mrs. Forbs.
“Exactly, exactly! You don’t know this, but Caroline Tanner is an orphan we adopted from the Orphanage. She’s been nothing but trouble since she was little. We threw her out of the house long
ago.”
“We thought she was dead, but now she’s done something so shameless as to ruin your family. Stella was only standing up for you, Mrs. Forbs!”
Mrs. Forbs picked up the photos, frowning as she examined them.
I helped Landon up, looking at his bloodied and mangled hand.
“You fool, why did you try to grab those photos? Does it hurt?”
Landon Banks shook his head and, with guilt in his eyes, gently wiped the blood from my face with
his sleeve.
“I’m sorry, Caroline. I still couldn’t protect you.”
