Chapter 3
Nelson was likely torn between how much he needed the money versus how badly he wanted to marry a rich woman.
After a long pause, he pulled out his laptop, printed out a “Breakup Agreement,” and handed it to me.
“If you want the money, I can give it to you, but you have to sign this agreement. After this, we’re done–no contact, no interference.”
I took the agreement, read through it quickly, and nodded.
Nelson gritted his teeth and transferred the three hundred thousand to me. Once the money was in my account, I signed the document without hesitation.
But after signing, I didn’t leave. I stayed comfortably on the sofa, still calm.
Evelyn was stunned. “You’ve already taken the money, so why aren’t you leaving?”
“Leave? Why should I leave? This house is mine,” I replied nonchalantly, gesturing toward the door.
“The ones who should leave are you.”
It seemed like Nelson had just realized that the house was “rented” by me, and he was seething, though he didn’t want to escalate the situation. “I know, this house is rented by you, but it’s close to my office, and I’m about to meet my wife. I don’t have time to find a better place.”
“Besides, you’re from here, so you don’t even need to rent a house. You can just move back to your
own home.”
“And don’t forget, the last clause in the agreement says you’re supposed to leave,” Nelson waved the
contract in front of me.
Evelyn chimed in, nodding eagerly. “Yes, yes, this house should go to my son. We can’t let my rich
daughter–in–law think we don’t even have a decent place to live.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “What, you need my house to impress your future wife? Don’t you think that’s embarrassing?”
Evelyn’s anger reached its peak. “What’s wrong with you? The house was rented by both of you. You’re making it sound like you own it! Isn’t that humiliating?”
The house isn’t rented, it’s mine.” I pulled out the property deed and showed them. “See? Sole

ownership.”
Evelyn and Nelson’s faces turned completely dark.
Nelson sputtered, “That’s impossible. This house is worth millions. Just renting it would cost thousands a month. How could you possibly afford to buy it?”
It seemed that Nelson, despite acting clueless about the rent, had been avoiding paying. I didn’t care to explain that I bought the house for him-
I thought it would be too embarrassing. I simply pointed at the property deed and didn’t say anything else.
ut once I showed them the deed, they had no choice but to believe me. I took out my phone in a
dramatic manner.
“So, are you leaving, or should I call the police? If you don’t, it’ll be you who’ll be embarrassed.”
Nelson and Evelyn wanted to argue further, but seeing how serious I was about calling the cops, they quickly packed up and left.
Nelson, carrying his luggage, shot me a furious glare. “So what if it’s a house worth over ten million? Don’t get cocky.
Once I marry the only daughter of a billionaire, I’ll become a millionaire myself. You’ll regret it. Just
wait. You’ll be crying soon.”
I was too stunned to say anything in reply. Nelson thought I was afraid of him and laughed as he walked away.
But I wasn’t scared–I was shocked.
Because I was the only daughter of a billionaire. How could I not know I was supposed to marry
him?
After they left, I kept replaying everything in my head.
I quickly changed the door code and returned home. But after everything that happened, I was exhausted, so I didn’t ask my parents about the situation. I just went straight to bed.
The next morning, my parents had already gone to the office.
I grabbed my things and went to the family business to see if they knew anything about me Supposedly getting married.
I walked into my dad’s office, only to find Nelson sitting there!
didn’t think much of it at first, assuming Nelson was here on company business, considering I’d recommended him to my parents before.
It made sense that they’d meet with him, especially since I’d said so many good things about him.
