Jayson lowered his head and looked at Nancy. He lightly patted her back to calm her down.
The people around them started looking at Nancy a bit more seriously after witnessing how Jayson had stepped up to protect her. With Jayson showing so much concern for her, these people figured it would only be a matter of time before he took Nancy as his wife.
The crazed man was escorted out of the hall.
Ariel felt nothing as she watched the entire incident. The people around her were murmuring amongst themselves.
“Gosh! Mr. Larkin is so protective of his partner! He looked so dashing!”
“I’ve heard from others that Ms. Stanton is Mr. Larkin’s girlfriend. Judging by the look of things, we’ll very likely hear some good news from them soon.”
“It isn’t just likely. It’ll happen for sure! I’ve heard from my dad that Ms. Stanton has been gaining a lot of attention in their circle. Mr. Larkin has been introducing a lot of his connections to her.
“Moreover, he would bring Ms. Stanton to various events and parties where the rich and the famous had also been invited. It’s clearly an effort to introduce her to everyone and to help elevate her status.”
“Goodness gracious! Ms. Stanton must feel very pleased and reassured since Mr. Larkin is pretty much openly acknowledging their relationship.”
“Ms. Stanton is an amazing woman, after all. She studied abroad and graduated with a PhD degree. She’s capable, and she’s even beautiful enough to become a star. Who wouldn’t like someone like her?”
Ariel did not give those comments much thought. Standing there, she felt like an outsider, listening to these people share and praise her husband and another woman’s love story.
It did not matter to her anymore. Ariel could not be bothered with these things.
She turned around and went back to where Chad was. Her eyes were devoid of emotion.
Chad witnessed what happened earlier as well. He also heard what the others were saying.
When Chad spotted Ariel, he was a bit worried that she might feel hurt. Although they were already getting divorced, Ariel had nevertheless spent three years doing everything she could to win Jayson’s heart. Yet, the man was extremely cruel to her.
“Are you alright?”
Ariel merely responded to his question with a faint smile.
She would be fine. Everyone needed to grow and move on with their lives. Ariel would not allow herself to keep wallowing in misery. She had decided not to let anyone affect her emotions and mental well–being.
Chad frowned as he watched Jayson put his jacket around Nancy’s shoulders.
“That man has such lousy taste! It was right for Ariel to want a divorce!” He spat internally.
“Let’s not bother ourselves with people who don’t matter that much. Come with me. We should meet Mr. Quinton

and chat about the new material. I’m sure he’ll see you in a different light once he’s listened to your insights and opinions.”
Chad patted Ariel on her shoulder. “Nancy can’t even think about comparing herself to you once we’ve launched our new project.”
Ariel fell silent. However, she agreed with Chad’s suggestion to meet and talk to Zach.
Coincidentally, Zach and his men were headed their way at that moment. With Ariel following beside him, Chad went up to Zach and greeted him. “Hello, Mr. Quinton.”
Zach admired and acknowledged Chad’s capabilities and achievements. He replied politely, “Mr. Hockney, thank you for gracing us with your presence today despite your busy schedule.”
Chad lightly waved his hand. He was an expert at making people feel pleased and flattered with the way he phrased his words. “You’re being overly humble; Mr. Quinton. It’s our honor to be invited to today’s event as well.”
Zach’s mouth turned up in a smile.
“Should we have a chat later?”
Chad nudged Ariel forward just then. “You probably still remember Ariel. I think the two of you haven’t been properly introduced to each other. She’s Faye Tech’s lead…”
“That won’t be necessary.”
Chad looked at Zach in confusion.
Zach cast a glance at Ariel. The earnest smile that hung on his face when he was speaking to Chad had vanished completely.
Zach recalled seeing Ariel stealing glances at Jayson earlier and hearing Vireon’s top executives‘ description of her.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Hockney.” Zach grew certain of the kind of woman Ariel was after everything he had heard and seen. He decided that she did not deserve his time or respect.
“I have no interest in getting acquainted with a woman who puts more focus on flirting with men than on her work.”
