Chapter 20
Janice’s expression darkened when she saw who it was. “Are you crazy, Frederick?”
Frederick Swanson frowned as he cast a warning–like glance at her. “Ms. Stanton came with sincerity. Why are you guys
being so rude turning her away?”
His gaze landed on Ariel, and surprise flashed across his face.
She was tall and slim, with a graceful posture that showed her good upbringing. Her black, wavy hair framed her face, and her fair skin stood out. Even with light makeup, her strong features were still noticeable, and her eyes had a cold, distant look.
Ariel was strikingly beautiful.
“Don’t tell me your important guest is actually her?” Frederick could
help but laugh in surprise. “She’s just a housewife
that only knows how to clean and cook. Is she really worth turning Ms. Stanton away for?”
He knew Ariel. After all, she was Janice’s best friend.
Frederick knew that Ariel was married, though she wasn’t sure to whom. He’d previously looked into her for a bit due to her
stunning appearance, only to find that she was merely a pretty face–unlike Nancy.
Women as capable as Nancy were rare.
“Have you fed your brains to the birds? Who are you to intercept in Faye Tech’s matters?” Janice couldn’t stand her useless
brother the most.

She only found out the day before yesterday that Frederick was into Nancy. When he heard that she was with Jayson, he went off to drink himself into a stupor and even ended up with alcohol poisoning.
He glanced at Ariel and said, “I can’t stand the way you guys are putting on airs. Ms. Stanton had always acknowledged U.N2,
and that was why she wanted to meet Mr. Hockney.
“Isn’t it great for exceptional minds to gather and discuss things? Aren’t you limiting your perspectives by wasting time over
a mere housewife?”
“Who does she think she is? We don’t need her acknowledgement.” Janice chuckled, exasperated. “Both of you–fuck off! The
air stinks because of you two shitheads!”
“Janice!” Frederick could only turn to Chad. He couldn’t bear having Nancy wait downstairs for so long after coming over. How about you head down to talk to her instead, Mr. Hockney?”
Chad casually twirled his pen and asked, “I’m curious. Who has more influence–you or Nancy?”
Frederick realized what he was implying–that neither of them knew their places. He shot Ariel a frustrated gaze before
turning to leave.
She didn’t pay it much mind. However, she had the feeling that her encounter with Nancy wasn’t over just yet
Although Frederick tried to smooth over Chad and Janice’s words, Nancy still understood Faye Technologies‘ stand
She pursed her lips, wondering if she had offended them unknowingly.
Nancy had met up with countless top figures ever since she returned from abroad, all of whom praised her. She wondered if Faye Technologies was trying to take a different approach.
Regardless, she contacted Jayson and briefly explained what had happened.

He calmly replied, “It’s fine, I’ll handle it.”
Meanwhile, Ariel spent the whole morning trying to familiarize herself with Faye Technologies‘ situation She began to see a clear direction forming in her head.
She felt incredibly fulfilled after working hard in the field she loved. For once, she wasn’t living for someone else–but for
herself.
Ariel didn’t even think about the troublesome matters with Jayson and Lucas anymore.
Jayson closed the file and rubbed his temples as he sat in his office at Bluum Corp. He glanced at his watch, finding that it
was almost 1:00 pm.
Feeling hungry, he instinctively reached to his left, yet finding nothing there.
Jayson looked up. There used to be two exquisite lunch boxes placed there timely. A little note would be stuck on them, with neat handwriting reminding him to not forget to eat.
“Colton!” he called out.
Colton entered the room and asked, “Do you need me for anything, Mr. Larkin?”
Jayson was lost in thought as he glanced at the spot on his left. “Did the lunch boxes get thrown away today?”
