Jayson received Tom’s phone call just as Perry had met up with them
According to Tom, the Faye Tech team had informed him directly of their decision. The other party also stated clearly and adamantly that there would be no room for discussion regarding their decision. They didn’t even bother beating around the bush.
Jayson lowered his gaze, a certain emotion appearing in his eyes. Then, he slowly replied, “Alright.”
Tom ended the call with mixed feelings. He couldn’t believe how Jayson had remained so calm despite all this.
Tom was aware that Nancy was quite prideful. After all, she had always been considered someone who was naturally gifted since she was young. She hadn’t faced any major obstacles even after graduating from her university.
Nancy had gotten used to people showering her with praise. Moreover, she was the apple of Jayson’s eye now. Naturally, she had some shortcomings when it came to handling her interpersonal relationships.
Nancy could have easily resolved the issue if she had properly explained her concerns to the Faye Tech team. Tom was astonished by how calm Jayson was, even when the Faye Tech team had requested that they replace the project’s person–in–charge.
In his opinion, it would be best if they had a seasoned employee from Nexura Solutions take charge of the project instead.
Tom was simply worried things might get out of hand during this process. He really hoped that they wouldn’t lose the opportunity to work with Faye Tech on the project.
Sitting beside Jayson, Nancy vaguely heard parts of their conversation. She had a stony look on her face. Frankly, she was pretty surprised.
Nancy simply thought that the requirements that the Faye Tech team had asked of them were too idealistic. Thus, she planned on negotiating with them again regarding those issues. Yet, their team didn’t even have the patience
for that.
Perry noticed how the air felt slightly tense. “What’s the matter?”
Nancy pursed her lips.
Jayson replied monotonously, “The Faye Tech team wants us to replace Nancy with someone else to lead the project we’re collaborating on.”
Even Perry was quite surprised to hear that.
He was aware that Nancy had joined Nexura Solutions and was put in charge of the project involving Faye Tech Initially, he reckoned Ariel and Nancy would have no choice but to meet often since both companies would be working closely.
He had expected conflicts to arise between the two of them, whether it was personal or work–related. What he hadn’t expected, though, was the Faye Tech team’s sudden request to replace the project manager.
Zach was sitting at the table next to theirs. He glanced over his shoulder when he overheard the news, looking bewildered. “What did Ms. Stanton do wrong? Did she happen to have offended someone from Faye Tech?”
Nancy was looking less irritated at that point. “We just started working on the project. There’s no room for me to make any mistakes.”

In other words, Nancy was implying that she must have somehow offended someone on Faye Tech’s side instead. The others automatically thought of Ariel upon hearing Nancy’s remarks.
Zach snickered. “It seems others may think of you as an eyesore when you’re too good at your job, Ms. Stanton. Ultimately, it’s not your fault that something like this has happened.”
Nancy was frankly quite surprised that the Faye Tech team ad ended up making such a biased and unprofessional decision. She believed she had treated her work seriously.
She had merely raised some questions as someone with relevant expertise. Yet, someone used that as an excuse to find fault with her.
Perry fell silent. He frowned slightly, lost in contemplation
After having spoken and interacted with Ariel several times he could tell that Ariel was not the type to go around and sabotage others just because she felt like it.
A lot of things and factors would come into play during collaborative work. Sometimes, hearing just one person’s explanation wouldn’t be enough to represent the full story.
“It’s fine. I don’t mind.” Nancy crossed her legs. She made her stance clear as well. “I won’t make things difficult for them if the Faye Tech team can’t objectively appreciate my expertise and abilities. I’ll back out of the project.”
Zach was flabbergasted.
Nancy had chosen to back out of the project. She could not be bothered to argue with the Faye Tech team or try to win their favor.
“What about the project with Faye Tech, then?” Perry asked the question that mattered the most at the moment. Jayson dropped his gaze and fiddled with the lighter in his band. He seemed to be in deep thought.
Nancy looked at him and said nonchalantly, “Jayson, you don’t have to feel burdened because of me. Nexura Solutions should continue working with Faye Tech on the project.
“We can’t change some people’s opinions. Nevertheless, we should put aside our prejudices and focus on achieving our goals. Completing the project successfully should be our top priority.
Jayson met her gaze and a moment later asked, “Are you sure you’re okay with it?”
Nancy beamed. “I’m backing out of the project on my own accord.”
No one had forced her to do it, and she hoped to make this clear to those from Faye Tech as well
She might have lost the opportunity to gain more from Carlos‘ advice and insights on this project, but Nancy could still join and learn from his next one.
