Chapter 227
When they arrived at the hospital, Perry parked his car and burned his gaze toward Ariel.
She had dozed off for a while. A deep frown drew her brows together. Ariel seemed worried and troubled by something even in her sleep.
Perry paused momentarily. He didn’t wake her up right away.
Ariel wasn’t sleeping so soundly, to begin with. She woke up not long after Perry had parked the car.
She checked the time. Her expression had turned cold and impassive. “Thank you.”
Ariel opened the car door and got out. Perry gave a slight nod and watched her enter the building
By the time she came out with the targeted drugs, Ariel found that Perry’s car was still parked in the same spot. She furrowed her brows.
Perry rolled down the car window and explained, “My plans got canceled at the last minute. So, I decided I might as well stay and give you a lift back to the hotel.”
Initially, Perry considered getting out of the car and opening the door for Ariel. On second thought, he reckoned Ariel might feel troubled or uncomfortable if he did that. In the end, he held back from doing that.
For a moment, Ariel found this situation a bit strange. However, Perry had been kind enough to wait for her here. At this point, turning down his offer felt excessive.
She got into the car and thanked him again.
Perry smiled slightly. “It’s no big deal. You should fasten your seat belt. You can take a nap if you’re feeling sleep I’ll wake you up when we get there.”
Ariel nodded, but she didn’t sleep this time.
She didn’t have anything to talk about with Perry. After entering the car, Ariel looked down at the notes she had saved on her phone. She had made a summary of what she had learned during their tour around the military base today.
Perry glanced in her direction and caught a glimpse of some special terminology which were rarely used.
He had a slightly puzzled look in his eyes.
Perry found himself questioning whether Ariel was truly expected to handle such advanced and complex material in her role at Faye Tech. He wondered if Chad had personally guided her.
As he reflected on it, he realized that Ariel was far more intelligent than he had initially assumed.
He curled his lips.
When they reached the hotel, Ariel received Chad’s WhatsApp message reminding her to join him for dinner at the hotel restaurant. They would be having a simple meeting to discuss their findings after the tour in the morning.
On the other hand, Perry received a message from Nancy. She told him that Matt had also flown to Sorenta to join them and asked Perry to meet up with them.
Ariel and Perry got out of the car.
As Nancy exited the elevator into the hotel lobby, she spotted Ariel and Perry out of the corners of her eyes. They were outside the hotel, and one was slightly ahead while the other was just trailing behind.

Nancy stood riveted to the spot. She knitted her brows. With a bewildered look on her face, she took another good look in that direction.
“What’s wrong?” Jayson halted and glanced at her.
Nancy came to her senses. When she looked outside again, Ariel and Perry were nowhere to be seen.
“Did you happen to see…” Nancy blurted out in her curiosity.
Jayson had a cold, indifferent look in his eyes. He followed Nancy’s gaze and looked outside. “What is it?”
Nancy pressed her lips together. In the end, she shook her head. “It’s nothing I probably saw it wrongly just now.
There was no way Perry would have any friendly interactions with Ariel. Nancy was convinced that he disliked Ariel.
Jayson didn’t try to ask Nancy any more questions either. He had a pensive look on his face as he looked away from where he was staring at. Then, Jayson continued to head toward the restaurant.
When Ariel got there, she found Chad chatting with a few people.
Meanwhile, several engineers had gathered around Carlos. They were sharing their thoughts after touring the military base that day.
Chad waved at Ariel. When Ariel walked over to his side, Chad handed her a glass of juice. “Have you gotten the medication?”
Ariel nodded. Her gaze drifted toward the side.
To her surprise, Matt was also there. He was sitting next to Zach and talking to him. When Matt spotted Perry, he beckoned him over as well.
A brief moment later, Jayson and Nancy entered the restaurant. The two of them headed straight for the table where Matt and the others were.
Ariel paid no mind to what was happening on that side of the room. She kept her head low as she continued to summarize the findings and information she had gathered during the day’s tour. Ariel felt that she had indeed learned a lot through this experience.
Carlos‘ group was still discussing the military transport aircraft’s flight system and engine. They were sharing some really useful and valuable information regarding the topic.
As she stared at the document on her phone, Ariel had a clear idea of what she should write for her next scientific
paper.
Carlos recommended a few books to provide tips and guidance to the participants. “You may be able to find something useful in those books. Unfortunately, the special edition books are difficult to acquire nowadays. The contents of these books are a bit different.”
Ariel stiffened slightly when she heard the name of those books. However, she quickly put the matter out of her mind.
Meanwhile, Nancy said in a surprised tone, “Do you mean these books? I just got them two days ago. Jayson has obtained them for me.”
Matt said teasingly, “Jayson is really thoughtful when it comes to anything related to you. He even had the foresight to get the books for you in advance.”

Zach was observing Jayson and Nancy. The two of them appeared to be much closer than he had imagined. On the other hand, Perry had mixed feelings as he glanced at Ariel.
He noticed Ariel didn’t even look up and was completely focused on doing her thing It seemed as though the truly felt nothing toward Jayson anymore.
Perry dropped his gaze while ruminating on something. Then, he had a sip of his drink. For some reason, he felt slightly relieved.
Ariel knew that Nancy was talking about the books Jayson had retrieved from Larkin Manor a few days earlier. She was not surprised, nor was she ruffled by it..
Nancy didn’t seem to mind that Carlos had rejected her application to become his postgraduate student through the application method. Instead, she remained humble and asked Carlos‘ opinion about some questions she had from time to time,
