Ariel didn’t care what Jayson was planning to do. That was his problem.
The birthday party was a grand and important social event, with Ariel representing the company’s image and networking opportunities.
So Janice accompanied her to choose a formal outfit, and together they carefully picked out a birthday gift for Jackson.
On the afternoon of the 18th, Chad came to pick up Ariel so they could go to the Spencer residence together. During this time, Ariel had received no messages or reminders from Jayson.
There was an unspoken understanding between them. Neither asked the other how they planned to handle the party.
The Spencer residence was a sprawling estate designed in a classical garden style.
Upon arrival, they saw many luxury cars parked at the gate. The scene clearly showed a gathering full of distinguished guests.
Ariel wore a dark green silk bodycon dress, and on her slender wrist, a vintage gemstone watch perfectly matched the dress.
As Ariel and Chad entered the residence, many people turned to look, especially at Ariel beside Chad.
Zach had arrived early. Being a relative of the Spencer family, he came ahead to help with the preparations.
He noticed Ariel with Chad and instinctively sized her up.
For a moment, a flicker of admiration crossed his face.
Ariel was tall and slender, and her figure was slim but not gaunt. The bodycon dress made her graceful and feminine.
Her hair was styled into an elegant low bun, which enhanced her cool and refined presence. Her attire was fitting without being overly flashy, perfectly matching the event’s theme.
Zach pressed his lips together. He knew all along that Ariel was unusually beautiful, but…
He shook his head and approached Chad. “Apologies, Mr. Hockney. There’s still over an hour before the party begins. Please, come in and make yourself comfortable.”
Chad acknowledged without losing composure. “Where’s Mr. Spencer?”
Ariel quietly stood aside, making no move to greet Zach.
Zach frowned but answered, “Liam is probably busy elsewhere. There are many guests today. Please don’t take offense, Mr. Hockney.”
“No problem. We’ll head inside first.” Chad didn’t want to talk much and gestured for Ariel to follow.
Ariel nodded, ignoring Zach completely.
Zach noticed her attitude. As he watched her retreating figure, his expression stiffened and darkened.
Just as he expected, Ariel was all looks and nothing more. She didn’t even have basic courtesy anymore. No wonder Carlos looked down on Ariel back in Sorenta.

Ariel and Chad entered the inner garden and immediately spotted familiar faces, including Alan from the new energy company.
Chad glanced around and asked Ariel, “I haven’t seen Jayson. Has he contacted you?”
Ariel shook her head. “No.”
Chad sneered. “He must be in a tough spot, huh? He’s about to get a divorce but still has to keep up this charade. I’m curious how he’ll act with you here.”
Just then, Alan approached and exchanged a few words with them.
Suddenly, there was a stir at the entrance.
Ariel glanced toward the door. When she saw who had just arrived, she instinctively frowned.
There, Jayson arrived accompanied by Nancy. Behind them were Matt and Perry, mingling with other guests.
Nancy linked arms with Jayson, chatting with those nearby.
The handsome man and beautiful woman immediately drew the crowd’s attention.
Alan commented, “Seems like the rumors were true. Mr. Larkin and Ms. Stanton really are close. She’s always the one on his arm at important events.”
Chad’s expression darkened.
He had thought Jayson’s biggest challenge today would be managing his “secret marriage” with Ariel under Betty’s insistence on attending as a couple.
But to his surprise, Jayson actually brought Nancy along.
