Ariel hadn’t expected that Liam would be so different from Zach when they were cousins. Moreover, Ariel actually spotted Liam on the day she and Zach had a minor argument.
She knew he had witnessed the entire incident. Furthermore, Zach had probably only ever said unpleasant things about her to him. Despite that, Liam had interacted with her calmly and normally.
However, none of them cared to mention Zach at the moment.
Perry didn’t say much after that. When the waiter served a blueberry dessert to their table, Perry pushed it toward Ariel.
After having met her several times, Perry noticed that Ariel actually had a sweet tooth.
Ariel hadn’t noticed what Perry did. She looked at Liam. “Regarding my uncle’s condition, the hospital has recently suggested a new approach and treatment to increase the success rate of his recovery. Would you mind taking a look at it for me, Mr. Spencer?”
She took out all of Leonard’s medical records that she had brought with her.
Liam nodded and flipped through the documents. “What a coincidence. I came back from overseas to lead a research team that studies the effects of certain drug use on tumors. This is the hospital where we’re conducting the research.”
Ariel didn’t expect they would be linked this way.
Also, Liam’s skills and experience must be on a different level for him to have received an offer to lead a research team back in their country.
Liam looked through the documents and got a gist of Leonard’s current condition. “His condition is quite complex. Getting a liver transplant is the safest way to go.”
Ariel was feeling quite nervous. “In that case… Would you be free to take charge of my uncle’s treatment, Mr. Spencer?”
Perry directed his gaze to Liam as well.
Liam paused briefly. Eventually, he pushed the medical records back in Ariel’s direction.
“I’m sorry, but I probably won’t be free for the next two months. My schedule is pretty tight at the moment since I’m currently working on a research project initiated by an international medical organization. However, I can refer you to another friend, who’s returned to the country with me.”
Frankly, Ariel was a little disappointed since she knew Liam must possess exceptional skills for Perry to have made the recommendation.
“My friend works at this hospital too. He’s an expert in surgical oncology. If you’re alright with it, my friend can be in charge of your uncle’s surgery.”
In a way, Liam had turned down Ariel’s request.
Perry knew that Liam had made an effort to meet with Ariel because of his request. Liam would definitely squeeze in the time to come to this meeting even if he was busy. Moreover, he had even helped by offering another solution to tackle the issue.
Ariel didn’t dwell on the issue for too long. She accepted Liam’s suggestion and expressed her gratitude. Even though she still hoped to get Liam to perform the surgery, Ariel didn’t think she could possibly ask him to

drop everything else. At the very least, Liam had shown hea lot of consideration and even recommended another doctor for Leonard.
Ariel decided not to force things since this was the best they could do at the moment.
Their meeting ended once Ariel had gotten Liam’s friend’s phone number.
Perry left to get his car. Meanwhile, Ariel and Liam walked over to the entrance.
Ariel was extremely exhausted. She went for chemotherapy in the morning. Then, she dropped by the courthouse. Her face was as white as a sheet after spending nearly all her energy.
Liam halted. He narrowed his eyes on Ariel. He could sense that something was off.
“Are you feeling unwell?”
Liam was a doctor. He could tell that Ariel was in a frail, weakened state.
Even though the weather was quite chilly, Ariel’s forehead was beaded with sweat. She was also swaying a little as she walked.
Ariel felt extremely unwell. It was her first time experiencing the overwhelming after–effects of chemotherapy.
She heaved a deep breath and replied politely, “I’m alright.
Although that was what she said, Ariel could feel her knees give out when she was about to go down the steps.
Liam moved swiftly and caught hold of Ariel’s wrist. “Do you want to stop by the hospital?”
Ariel was about to shake her head when she spotted a Rolls–Royce Phantom pulling up in front of an office building in the distance. Jayson and Nancy got out of the car
There weren’t many cars or people on that side of the road.
Jayson exited the car and lifted his gaze. He happened to look in Ariel’s direction.
