Chapter 272
“It seems like Mr. Larkin is even willing to risk sacrificing his own health to help Ms. Stanton.” Chad smiled cynically.
He couldn’t help thinking how great it would be if the drone had taken Jayson out completely during the accident that day.
Augustine rubbed his belly and grinned. “Mr. Larkin is planning to build an elite team of members for Veyo Solutions. I doubt there’s anyone who’ll refuse Mr. Larkin’s offer, especially when he’s the one asking. Ms. Stanton is extremely… lucky!”
Ariel lifted her gaze slightly.
Chad furrowed his brows upon hearing that final remark. His eyes were filled with concern as he glanced at Ariel.
Nancy’s good luck was built upon Ariel’s despair and misery.
While everyone thought Nancy was incredibly lucky, Ariel must find the situation extremely absurd and ironic. Everyone was singing praises of Jayson and Nancy’s seemingly selfless, passionate love.
Ariel hardly showed any reaction to Augustine’s remarks.
Jayson was still in the hospital when they spoke on the phone yesterday. Yet, he went on the business trip with
Nancy that night.
Jayson probably knew Ariel wouldn’t drop by the hospital when he popped the question during the day.
Even if Ariel did show up, Jayson probably thought it would be alright for him to just leave her at the hospital and go with Nancy instead,
None of that mattered anyway. More importantly, Jayson didn’t try to keep a low profile while doing all these things.
Not only did his men poach a Faye Tech employee, but Jayson had also attended one of the biggest tech exhibitions in their country to recruit people.
Clearly, Jayson had planned to recruit talent and manpower from both in and out of the country for Veyo Solutions. Moreover, they would hardly face any issues with staff shortages.
Still, they decided to give Faye Tech a blow by poaching one of their employees. It was definitely a deliberate move.
After showing Chad and Ariel to the lobby, Augustine headed back to his post.
Chad lowered his head and said mockingly, “I wonder what Jayson’s heart is really made of?
“The two of you were married for three years. He seemed completely fine and unbothered after the divorce. He even used the excuse of going on a business trip to go traveling with Nancy. He’s really enjoying life to the fullest.”
Even when his injuries were not fully healed yet, Jayson still did everything he could for Nancy and provided her with a strong sense of security.
As for Ariel, he had completely neglected her and left her alone to fend for herself.
“I’m starving.” Ariel had no interest in commenting on any topics related to Jayson. “Let’s grab lunch first. Then, we can finalize the part of the planning involving renewable energy.”
No matter how impressive the scale of Veyo Solutions‘ business would be, what mattered the most at the end of the day was how innovative and revolutionary a company’s projects were. Ariel understood that better than

Chad fixed his gaze on Ariel. He ruffled Ariel’s hair mischievously in an attempt to console her.
After they had lunch at the restaurant, Chad left to get the car. To Ariel’s surprise, she bumped into Evelyn while waiting by the entrance.
Evelyn’s expression remained unchanged as she noticed Anel and walked past her, Ariel had no intention of greeting Evelyn either.
However, Evelyn halted in her tracks as she seemed to recall something. She glanced over her shoulder at Ariel. ” Have you been busy with work lately?”
Ariel lifted her gaze and looked in Evelyn’s direction.
Evelyn didn’t pause to wait for Ariel’s response. She had a stern look on her face.
“Jayson got injured because of you. Why didn’t you stay at the hospital to take care of him? Is your work really that important? The Larkin family is fully capable of keeping you well fed and providing you with enough allowance, right?”
She had more or less learned about the affairs involving the Spencer family.
Evelyn continued frigidly, “It’s important to maintain a happy and harmonious atmosphere at home.
“You shouldn’t be bothering your grandma with the minor conflicts happening between you and Jayson. Don’t complain to Betty about how sad or disappointed you are. I ll only make things worse if Betty tries to intervene. You should still try to keep things respectful between you and Jayson.”
Ariel could tell that Jayson hadn’t informed Evelyn about the divorce. She realized once again how cautious Jayson
was.
As for the part about being respectful, Evelyn probably said that considering Jayson might be planning to marry Nancy in the near future.
Once it was revealed that Nancy had gotten in between Jayson and his ex–wife, the Larkin family’s reputation would be tarnished if Jayson still insisted on tying the knot with Nancy.
Ariel knew how Evelyn had always been very cold–hearted and calculative.
In the past, she would just listen to Evelyn’s words quietly without making any comments.
However, the circumstances had changed.
Ariel’s tone was cold and indifferent. “Jayson has been discharged from the hospital a while back. As his mother, have you not taken any notice of that?”
Evelyn was quite surprised to hear the way Ariel had responded.
