Chapter 289
In one word, Faye Technologies didn’t mind parting ways with Veyo Solutions right now since they had an edge in their skills and technologies.
They merely had a slimmer chance of standing out while going up against numerous famous corporations during the tender.
Now that they had won the contract, the Faye Technologies team wouldn’t have any issues devising and developing the tools and technologies required to complete the project. They would not require the Veyo Solutions team’s assistance at all.
They were already being quite generous by assigning some work relating to the more basic parts of the project to the Veyo Solutions team.
Nancy fixed Ariel with a stony gaze. “Aren’t you being too selfish now by mixing work and your personal feelings, Ms. Walker?”
Ariel crossed her legs and leaned back against her chair.
Her face showed no emotion. She couldn’t even bother to make a retort. “Veyo Solutions has Mr. Larkin’s support. I’m sure paying the indemnity is no big deal for him.”
Finally, Jayson directed his gaze to Ariel. His eyes betrayed nothing. However, he seemed to be paying more attention to Ariel upon witnessing her attitude so far.
Ariel couldn’t care less about Jayson’s opinions right now.
Usually, each party participating in a joint bidding had something they specialized in and would work together so that they could make up for what each party lacked as a single entity.
While there was a risk that Faye Technologies might not make the cut for the tender, their team had demonstrated an all–around excellence in their skills and technology.
Moreover, they didn’t have to concern themselves with issues regarding how they should work with the Veyo
Solutions team.
Before they finalized the joint bidding, the Faye Technologies team had signed an agreement with Veyo Solutions‘ side and secured the right to take the lead in the project.
Naturally, Faye Technologies also had the right to decide and assign the parts of the project that the Veyo Solutions team should be responsible for.
The Veyo Solutions team could always back out of the project if they had any complaints or objections or if they simply couldn’t accept Faye Tech’s decision. However, any party causing a delay to the project’s progress would have to bear full responsibility and pay a huge sum of money as indemnity.
It was stated in the tender response that Faye Technologies would be leading the project. Naturally, they would have more say in the matter.
From the beginning, Faye Technologies was merely using Veyo Solutions, which had the Nexura Solutions team’s support, to win the contract offered by the Department of Defense.
It didn’t matter to them whether the Veyo Solutions team would accept their terms and arrangement or not.
Veyo Solutions could choose to back out of this collaboration, and it wouldn’t affect Faye Technologies in the slightest.
In other words, Faye Technologies used Veyo Solutions and Nexura Solutions to secure the project. Since they had

the upper hand in terms of their skills and technologies, Fave Technologies could always just get rid of Veyo Solutions without having to worry about any repercussions
Ariel didn’t think it was unethical for them to do something like this.
The Veyo Solutions team had poached one of their employees first.
For them to be using Veyo Solutions now, Ariel didn’t see it as an act of revenge. She was simply giving them a taste of their own medicine.
Faye Technologies shouldn’t be the only one suffering a loss.
Nancy finally realized the Faye Technologies team was not actually sincere about collaborating with them. They had set up this trap for Veyo Solutions, yet there was nothing Nancy could do about this situation.
They were forced to either accept this unreasonable contract or back out of the project and pay the indemnity.
“Mr. Hockney, isn’t Faye Tech being a bit too harsh by doing something like this?” Nancy’s expression hardened.
She had given up communicating with Ariel. She turned her gaze toward Chad, who had the authority to make decisions on behalf of Faye Tech.
Chad had a rather apologetic look on his face as he sighed. “We can’t afford to make any mistakes since this is a project under the Department of Defense. As the party leading the project, I feel more reassured to have full access and control over the tools and technologies developed for the project.
“If you’re really unhappy with this arrangement, that means we probably won’t be able to reach an agreement for the project. I’m afraid we’ll have to terminate our collaboration then, Ms. Stanton.”
Nancy was struck speechless.
She never imagined the Faye Tech team would pull such a dirty trick.
Meanwhile, Jayson didn’t look surprised or upset in the slightest the entire time. He slowly sipped on his coffee.
It was impossible to tell what was going through his head with how calm and composed he appeared.
Ariel sensed that he was looking at her. She lifted her gaze and met Jayson’s deep–set eyes. He didn’t seem angry at all. Instead, there was an unreadable look in his eyes.
It was as though he had known about Faye Tech’s plans from the start.
Ariel frowned and averted her gaze expressionlessly.
“That’s fine.” With a calm look on his face, Jayson finally said something.
Nancy turned her eyes to Jayson.
Jayson smiled enigmatically and continued, “It seems Mr. Hockney and Ari have already planned it out accordingly. For the sake of the bigger picture, there’s nothing much we have to say. We’ll follow your plan, then.”
