Nancy’s tone was mild. However, she had an icy expression on her face. It was obvious she was displeased. Nancy even felt that Ariel was very rude and uncultured.
Ariel clearly had a lower status and position compared to Nancy and the others. Yet, she didn’t seem to realize that even after spending all this time in this circle.
Ariel gazed at Nancy as well.
She had a frigid look on her face. Ariel couldn’t be bothered to show Nancy any patience or decency anymore.
“You didn’t have to remind me specifically about that, Ms. Stanton. Perhaps when you’ve officially become Mr. Larkin’s wife, you can make an announcement and have everyone show you some proper respect.”
Nancy’s brows furrowed.
She could sense the hint of mockery and ridicule in Ariel’s words. Nancy simply felt that the way Ariel had overreacted was quite embarrassing.
Tom finally noticed the strange tension between Ariel and Nancy.
He knew that Nancy was a proud and dignified lady who had graduated from one of the top universities overseas. She was also the apple of Jayson’s eye.
Even though she tried not to let it show, Nancy was nevertheless extremely prideful deep down.
As for Ariel, Tom could tell from his observations so far that she held an important position in Faye Technologies. It was pretty obvious, judging from Chad’s and Janice’s attitudes toward Ariel.
Tom didn’t want to risk offending anyone. He quickly stepped forward to intervene. “It’s alright. We’re not in our offices today. We should all just forget about formalities and…”
Ariel had a stony look in her eyes.
Before she could comment on anything, Janice said with a smile on her face, “Ms. Stanton, if you’re so particular about these things… Technically speaking, shouldn’t you be showing Ari some respect first?”
Nancy was Jayson’s mistress.
Even if Ariel had divorced Jayson, there was no denying that Nancy had gotten in between the once–married couple.
Janice didn’t think it was too much to have Nancy show Ariel some respect instead. There was a scornful look in her eyes.
Moreover, Nancy was the one who started it. Janice had merely used her words to give Nancy a taste of her own medicine.
Nancy knitted her brows. She understood almost immediately what Janice was implying.
Unfortunately, Jayson was walking toward them the moment Janice had finished making that remark. He had most likely heard Janice’s words.
Jayson halted in his tracks. He lifted his head and cast a glance at Janice.
With his intellect, Jayson could pretty much tell what Janice was hinting at by relating what he already knew to the clues from Janice’s remarks.

He didn’t fully understand what Janice meant earlier by saying that Nancy should be showing Arief some respect first. However, he could clearly sense the alt growing even more tense
Jayson gave a slight nod.
His gaze fell on Ariel, who remained expressionless.
Curiously enough, Ariel could sense something she could not pinpoint about layson’s attitude from the look he gave her.
However, Jayson made no comment. He simply looked at Nancy and began, “Matt is calling us over.”
Nancy nodded.
Before leaving, she frowned and turned her eyes to Ariel. With a look of disdain on her face, Nancy walked away.
Ariel averted her gaze.
When Jayson was looking at her earlier, Ariel reckoned he probably thought she had told Janice to attack Nancy with those words.
Anyway, it no longer mattered to Ariel what Jayson was thinking. He was free to make any assumptions.
Once Jayson and Nancy were gone, Tom excused himself and went to chat with other people.
Janice smirked. “She’s acting all high and nighty! If we’re going to follow her logic, Jayson has helped establish Veyo Solutions for Nancy, Back then, Ari was still Jayson’s wife. Shouldn’t Nancy at least try to show some respect toward Ari, who was her boss‘ wife?”
What was that arrogant act from earlier for?
Ariel patted her back. “It’s alright. It’s not like we suffered any loss or damage from that.”
