Ariel sounded extremely calm. She spoke clearly and monotonously.
Even though she was positively fuming, Ariel didn’t lose control of her emotions. Yet, it was the way she had remained cool and restrained that would make anyone feel even more shocked.
She had a frigid look in her eyes as she stared right at Jayson.
Ariel couldn’t even be bothered to blame or argue with Nangy and Sarah over what they did.
It was because she knew very well that anyone would make use of the advantage they had to the best of their interests. If it weren’t because Jayson had turned a blind eye to it, Sarah might not have the audacity to do something like this.
How so?
Even if Jayson hadn’t said anything, Sarah and Nancy felt that they would have his backing no matter what!
Therefore, Ariel was simply trying to take care of the source of the problem now.
Jayson’s expression remained unchanged. Beneath his calm appearance was the usual cold indifference with which he had treated Ariel.
He kept silent.
Nancy stood up. She pursed her lips. There was a look of scorn in her eyes. “Ariel, have you forgotten all your manners?”
What did they do to cause Ariel to show up here unannounced and create a scene like this?
Sarah’s face turned a little pale. She seemed to think that Ariel had overreacted. Sarah adopted a slightly stern, disapproving look on her face.
“We gave the cakes to the other patients too. Perhaps someone made a mistake and delivered the cake to your room. There’s no need to… make a big fuss out of it.”
Ariel had a slightly mocking look in her eyes. So, she was the one who was at fault now?
Her mouth twisted into a smirk. “So, it was all an accident? Should I also ‘accidentally‘ reveal to other people about Ms. Stanton’s actual relationship with Jayson, then?”
Sarah’s expression changed almost instantly. A look of venom flashed in her eyes.
Nancy’s face darkened.
It was her first time seeing Ariel going all out and making these spiteful threats. She didn’t seem to care about being courteous and respectful anymore. Nancy couldn’t help but wonder if Ariel found it shameful to be making a scene like this.
“Let’s talk about it outside.”
At long last, Jayson opened his mouth and said something. His eyes were unreadable. It was impossible to tell Jayson’s stance and thoughts from his flat tone.
He strode toward the door, looking as though he didn’t want to disturb Sarah’s rest. It also seemed like Ariel’s earlier remarks had aggravated him.
Ariel didn’t spare Sarah and Nancy another glance.

In the corridor, Jayson leaned against one side of the wall. He stared at Ariel with those dark eyes.
Ariel’s expression remained impassive. “You can think anything you want. I only want one thing. Sarah needs to transfer to another hospital today, and she and Nancy are to stay away from my family. Otherwise, I don’t mind making things ugly for everyone.”
Ariel could bear with everything else that was happening. However, anything related to her family was off limits.
Moreover, Sarah had clearly done it on purpose. She knew how much Katie and Leonard hated her, yet she went and pulled that cheap trick. Ariel would not tolerate these actions from her.
Jayson looked at her for a while and said slowly, “I’ve never seen you lose your temper like this before.”
Even when Nancy started appearing around Jayson, Ariel had not once gotten this upset and agitated.
Jayson did not sound like he was angry or that he was trying to question Ariel when he said that. Instead, it almost sounded like he was casually teasing her.
Those who didn’t know better might think the two of them were just chatting when Ariel had actually asked Jayson to get his woman out of the hospital just moments ago.
Ariel lifted her gaze. A cold light was reflected in her eyes. Please give me an answer now.”
She had no intention of responding to anything irrelevant to the matter.
As for the way she had reacted, Ariel was never one to show such an aggressive side, not even to her enemies. Since she was still a child, Ariel had been taught the ways and manners of a proper lady.
Aside from being polite and proper, she was also gentle yet resilient. Ariel would get competitive when it came to her work and studies. Otherwise, she rarely gave off such impressions.
However, Ariel did not mind showing others her tougher side, especially when those people did something that crossed the line.
Jayson fixed his gaze on Ariel. The air around them seemed to have grown a bit tense.
He could see that Ariel’s lips were pressed into a thin line. Suddenly, Jayson said, “Sure, but make sure you keep to what we’ve agreed.”
As soon as she got an answer from him, Ariel turned around and walked away without the slightest hint of hesitation.
She was quite surprised that Jayson said nothing about her saying those harsh words to Nancy and Sarah earlier. Anyway, what mattered more was that Ariel achieved what she came here for.
Ariel returned to Leonard’s ward. The expression on her face was so calm and natural that it was as if nothing much had happened earlier.
Leonard looked up from the book he was reading. “Have you thanked the person?”
Ariel nodded. “I did.”
Leonard lowered his gaze and continued reading. He did not ask any other questions.
Ariel stayed around for a bit longer to keep Leonard company and make sure no one would show up to do something similar to what just happened.
She decided to nip the issue in the bud. Sarah had ill intentions when she had someone deliver the cake to them. The only thing Ariel could do was to get Sarah transferred to another hospital. Otherwise, it would only mean

more trouble for them.
The next day, Ariel had just completed some of her tasks when she received a call.
Her brows furrowed. She recognized the number. It was Colton’s phone number.
Even though Ariel had changed her number, Colton seemed to have found a way to obtain her new number.
Ariel paused for a split second before picking up the phone
Colton spoke in his usual brisk, business–like tone. “Mrs. Larkin, Mr. Larkin instructed me to inform you that what you requested had been taken care of.”
Ariel had no idea why Colton was still addressing her that way. However, she could not be bothered to correct him.
She merely replied, “Alright.”
Colton paused for a moment and asked, “Is there anything you need me to relay to Mr. Larkin?”
“No.”
Without waiting for his reply, Ariel hung up.
She could tell from this incident that it was not particularly difficult for Jayson to obtain her personal information. Yet, he still would not make the call personally.
Also, Ariel would not be so naive to think that Jayson had found out about her new number because he wanted to have her contact details.
Instead, he was using this method to warn and inform Ariel that he had taken care of the issue just as she asked. He hoped that she would keep her promise and not reveal the secrets about the divorce and Nancy being his
mistress.
Ariel knew very well that Jayson was a man of his word.
Sarah had most likely been transferred to another hospital. Jayson had not tried to bargain or negotiate about the issue during this process.
He was simply trying to avoid further agitating Ariel since she might really go ahead and expose Nancy’s lies about being Jayson’s girlfriend. Jayson was probably worried that Ariel might try to harass Sarah as well.
Jayson was a smart man. He didn’t like wasting his time doing pointless things. Therefore, he was usually very quick and decisive whenever he had to resolve an issue.
Having dealt with the source of her frustration, Ariel saw no reason to spend her time or energy on people who held no significance in her life.

As for the fact that Jayson had learned about her new number…
Ariel couldn’t care less about it. She hadn’t changed her number because she was upset or trying to gain anyone’s attention; she simply wanted to move on from her past and embrace her new life.
It did not matter to Ariel whether Jayson had her new number or not.
Besides, even if he did, Jayson wouldn’t contact Ariel personally or try to bother her.
