Perry was clearly choosing Faye Technologies over Veyo Solutions by dropping by today.
Moreover, he was someone close to Nancy’s group. Chad was more than willing to see Perry stab them in the back this way.
Just then, they heard a commotion coming from somewhere in the distance. Carlos had arrived.
The reporters were visibly taken aback. None of them had anticipated the appearance of the renowned and widely respected researcher Carlos Hockney.
They quickly pointed their cameras at Carlos. It was not yet time for the interview session. While Faye Technologies‘ staff members carried out the necessary protocols to keep the situation under control, the guests were courteous enough not to rush up to Carlos and surround him.
With his assistant by his side, Carlos made his way toward Ariel.
Perry’s expression turned a lot more serious the instant he spotted Carlos. The thoughts that he had before came to his mind yet again.
“Mr. Carlos.” Perry greeted him respectfully. He grew more certain of his thoughts. Perry said in a soothing voice, “You came to Faye Tech’s product launch today despite your busy schedule.”
Carlos recognized Perry. He nodded.
They were surrounded by reporters and people from the same industry. Still, Carlos replied calmly, “I’m here to see my student.”
Perry’s eyes widened. He swiftly turned his gaze toward Ariel, who remained cool and collected this whole time.
It was really her.
Several representatives from the government had attended Veyo Solutions‘ opening ceremony.
Nancy couldn’t even afford to take a break. Jayson was still having a meeting at Bluum Corp. He could only come over after the meeting was over.
Meanwhile, Matt had come over to lend a hand since he was free.
He checked the time. “Did Jayson say what time he’d reach here?”
Nancy looked at the message once more and said, “He says it’ll take another 20 minutes.”
Then, she asked, “What about Perry? Why isn’t he here yet?
Matt was puzzled about that too. “I’ll ask him in a bit.”
He reckoned Perry was probably held back because of work
“Did Jayson tell you what time you’d be meeting Mr. Carlos?”
Nancy frowned slightly. “Around 3:00 pm. Jayson said there was no need to invite Mr. Carlos to the opening. ceremony, so he didn’t mention it to him. He simply arranged for a meeting at a separate time.”
Nancy wasn’t exactly sure what Jayson’s plans were. However, she reckoned Jayson probably didn’t invite Carlos to the opening ceremony because the latter probably didn’t enjoy making such public appearances.

On the other hand, Matt believed it wouldn’t be difficult to persuade Carlos to open an additional spot for Nancy, especially since he had already agreed to meet with them.
“Faye Tech is holding a product launch today. It just so happens that they’ve picked to do it on the same day as Veyo Solutions‘ opening ceremony. I don’t understand the point of them doing something like this.”
Matt had just found out about this not too long ago. He found it amusing.
Nancy’s brows arched. She did not think much of it. “I’ve invited a lot of important and influential figures in the industry to our event. We even have representatives from the government here to show their support for Veyo Solutions.
“Their presence here today sets the bar for us. Faye Tech’s event couldn’t possibly be more impressive than ours in terms of the scale and the guests that have shown up.”
Moreover, Jayson would be coming here to show his support for Veyo Solutions too.
Matt agreed with her. He shrugged and smirked. Then, he took out his phone since he was planning to send Perry a message to ask where he was.
“Sorry, I was a bit late.”
When Zach came up to them, he instructed his secretary to pass his gifts to Nancy.
Nancy decided to end the conversation they had been having earlier. She smiled at Zach. “Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to be here.”
Zach received the invitation a few days ago. He was unable to attend the art exhibition the other day. So, he decided he must come here today to show his support.
Additionally, Veyo Solutions had demonstrated considerable potential. Zach was hoping they could collaborate with the Veyo Solutions team in the near future and generate better results for their future projects.
He looked at Matt, who was staring at his phone, and was about to say something.
But Matt’s expression changed all of a sudden. He looked away from his phone screen and glanced at Nancy. He had a slightly flustered look on his face. “Mr. Carlos… went to Faye Tech.”
Nancy’s expression hardened the second she heard that Carlos was at Faye Technologies‘ event.
“Also…” Matt showed her his phone screen.
Zach was standing closer to him, so he saw the post clearly. His eyes hardened.
They could see that someone had posted an update on Faye Tech’s event through Matt’s Instagram account. A photo of Carlos and Ariel standing together was captured during Faye Technologies‘ product launch event.
When Nancy read the caption of that post, her expression turned grim and awkward. Her face grew pale.
“Mr. Carlos is finally taking a new student after four years, and that person is Faye Tech’s Ms. Walker! It’s such an honor to be able to witness this moment!”
