Ariel didn’t even bother looking up when she heard that Zach had arrived at their lobby.
They had more or less heard about Vireon Technologies‘ recent plans. Zach was currently working on expanding their business.
If Zach planned to venture into the drone production chain, he would require Faye Technologies‘ new flight control system, regardless.
Chad instructed Laura right away, “Tell Mr. Quinton I’m not in and that he can leave now.”
He still remembered how Zach had made those baseless, biased remarks about Ariel. They had no intention of making things convenient for someone who clearly had nothing but ill feelings for them.
Ariel had no objections.
When she found Zach, who had been waiting downstairs for quite some time, Laura smiled and said, “Mr. Quinton, Mr. Hockney happened to be out at the moment. I’m afraid you won’t be able to see him today.”
Zach knitted his brows. “Around what time will he be back?
Laura maintained a neutral expression. “I’m afraid that’s not something I can say for sure. Sorry, Mr. Quinton.”
Zach understood instantly what was going on.
If Faye Technologies were being objective about it, their staff would have told him to come by some other time instead of saying what she just said. They didn’t even bother putting up an act even though the excuse they just gave was not convincing at all.
Zach’s expression hardened.
Just as he was about to say something, Nancy’s voice came from behind him. “Mr. Quinton?”
Zach glanced over his shoulder and saw Nancy. His expression softened slightly. “Ms. Stanton, you came here to ask about the patent license for the flight control system too?”
Nancy appeared cool and collected. “Yes, Faye Tech has contributed to a major development in our industry. We’ll have to use their new flight control system even if we don’t want to.”
She turned her gaze toward Laura, who was still there. “Can you let Mr. Hockney know that I need to speak to him?

Upon seeing Nancy, Laura suggested helpfully, “Mr. Hockney isn’t around at the moment. Ms. Walker is here, though. Would you like to try and make an appointment to meet with her instead, Ms. Stanton?”
Nancy’s brows drew together in a deep frown when she heard that. She had a scowl on her face.
She had to beg Ariel to meet her just because Chad was not around?
Nancy was amazed by Ariel’s slyness and wickedness. It seemed like she had been waiting for this moment to mock and humiliate Nancy.
Nancy reckoned Ariel had only gotten her current position at Faye Technologies because the latter had invested some money in the company. There was no way Ariel really had any authority in their decision–making process.
She surmised that Ariel had instructed her assistant to do this just to bruise her pride.
“It’s fine. I prefer talking to Mr. Hockney directly since it involves some important matters.” Nancy’s face

darkened. She was certain that Ariel was doing this deliberately today.

Ariel probably wanted to see Nancy make a desperate attempt to meet with her. Even if she did agree to meet, Ariel might make some absurd and unreasonable demands of Nancy afterward.
Laura smiled faintly. “You won’t have to wait around then, Ms. Stanton, Mr. Hockney won’t be seeing you.”
Nancy was caught off guard.
Zach was taken aback as well by how blunt and direct Laura’s response was.
Laura gave a nod politely while facing Zach and Nancy. Then, she turned around and headed upstairs.
It was at that point that Zach understood clearly that the Faye Technologies team had no intention of meeting them.
Chad was definitely in the building.
Yet, they were trying to make Nancy beg to meet with Ariel instead. Zach could not help but wonder what their intentions were for doing something like that.
They were trying to embarrass Nancy without showing any respect or consideration for her.
“Ms. Stanton, you should probably just head back today. I think the Faye Tech team won’t agree to meet you for the time being.” Zach felt like he had seen these people’s true selves today.
Unfortunately, Faye Technologies had risen to a completely different level now as they possessed something that could potentially decide the fates of numerous businesses. They were in a position where they clearly had the upper hand.
Nancy pursed her lips. She dropped her gaze and pondered for a moment. “It’s alright. Being in this line of work, I don’t like mixing personal grudges with my work affairs. Even if Faye Tech is being uncooperative now, I still need to find a way to resolve this.”
Zach was deeply frustrated with the current situation as well. Still, he praised Nancy. “You’re such a generous person, Ms. Stanton.”
He could see it clearly now that Ariel was doing all these things to get back at Nancy. She was venting her anger and frustration on Nancy after being rejected by Jayson.
