Chapter 355
Ariel’s heart missed a beat. She lifted her gaze and met Liam’s eyes.
He hadn’t shown any excessive interest or eagerness in trying to dig up more information. It seemed like he was just asking about Jayson because he saw him earlier.
Ariel gave a slight nod. “He left.”
She gave a short, precise answer.
Ariel didn’t try to explain her relationship with Jayson, nor did she remind Liam that he shouldn’t make any strange assumptions about them.
It would seem like she was trying really hard to hide something instead.
There was no use explaining too much since Liam had seen them together. It would be better if they just put an end to the conversation.
Liam wasn’t exactly that surprised. He could tell that Ariel didn’t want to talk about Jayson.
He found it completely understandable. Ariel was not obligated to tell him anything, especially when it involved her private matters.
“As the patient’s family member, you’ll be quite busy during the next 24 hours. Fortunately, with the medical plan Mr. Walker has opted for at our hospital, there will be caretakers to help with watching over him.”
Liam’s calm and soothing voice was somewhat helpful in relieving the patient’s family’s anxiety and restlessness.
Ariel nodded. After waiting so long for the operation to be over, she finally felt like she could relax a little. “I see. Alright.”
After checking the time, Liam lowered his gaze. It was probably because her nerves were on edge or that her blood sugar was low since she had not eaten. Liam noticed Ariel’s neck was beaded with sweat.
He stared at that area for a brief moment and looked away.
Then, Liam pointed at the bottle of fruit milk, which was still sealed and clutched in Ariel’s hands. He reminded her. “Ms. Walker, before you can take care of a patient, you need to take care of yourself first.”
Truthfully, Ariel did not have much strength left in her limbs.
She understood what Liam was trying to tell her. Ariel thanked him politely.
Liam nodded. Then, he turned around and left.
However, just as he was turning a corner at the end of a corridor, Liam’s pace slowed down. He had a puzzled look in his eyes.
Someone like Jayson, who was usually busy managing his businesses, seemed to have spent quite a long time at the hospital today.
Leonard’s operation was the only operation that was scheduled to be conducted in that operating room that day.
“So… Jayson Larkin was really keeping Ariel company while she waited for her family? Why and what kind of relationship do they share for him to do this for her?” Liam wondered.
During the birthday party hosted by the Spencer family, the partner Jayson had brought with him that day was Nancy.

The guests were all praising how Jayson and Nancy seemed like a great match. Ariel witnessed everything back then. Yet, she appeared as though she hardly knew the couple.
However, Jayson happened to have rescued Ariel during a later incident. Looking back at it now, Liam felt like what happened then might not have been just a mere coincidence.
Ariel gave Katie a call.
After that, Katie came over to take a look at Leonard, who was still out because of the anaesthetic. She felt much relieved.
Leonard was still in the ICU, and they weren’t allowed to enter the area. Ariel and Katie had no choice but to return to Leonard’s ward first. They decided to drop by the ICU from time to time.
Leonard focused a lot on his studies during his younger years. He had a girlfriend at one point. For some reason, they broke up later on. Since then, Leonard hadn’t met anyone he had considered tying the knot with.
Leonard was already in his 40s, and he had no children. As the few family members he had left, Ariel felt like she should look after Leonard.
It was just past 7:00 pm when someone knocked on the door.
It was a food delivery from one of the most famous restaurants in Eldoria.
Ariel said a little hesitantly, “Sorry, but I didn’t order the food.”
The delivery person checked the name. “You’re Ariel Walker. Ms. Walker, right?”
Ariel was feeling puzzled. “That’s me…”
“It’s correct, then. Please enjoy your meal.” The person placed the nicely packed meal boxes on the table and left the room.
Katie came over. “Who sent these?”
Ariel shook her head. “I’m not sure.”
She went over to check. The food packaging was secure. She could feel through the container that the food was still warm.
“How come they were sent to us, then?” Katie asked.
Ariel pondered for a moment. “Perhaps it was Chad or Janice.”
Katie thought that made a lot more sense.
The next day, Ariel stopped by the ICU before 7:00 am. Everything seemed alright so far.
By the time she got back to the ward, breakfast had been brought to their room. Katie was already eating her breakfast.
Ariel walked over to the table and had a look at the food. She could tell it was a carefully prepared, well–balanced meal that would help boost the elderly’s health.
“Did the hospital prepare these for us?” Ariel knew that this private hospital provided top–notch services, offering comprehensive care for both the patient and their family.
