Katie slid Ariel’s tray of food over to her. “I think so. The nurse brought them up.”
Ariel nodded, taking the food.
Sometimes, she had to admit that pricey stuff really was beter.
For the next couple of days, meals arrived like clockwork. Not once was the menu repeated.
Leonard had been moved out of intensive care and was awake, though still unable to move.
The moment Janice heard, she insisted on coming over with Chad. Ariel couldn’t even stop them.
They dropped by when they had a bit of free time.

Seeing how exhausted Ariel looked after two days, Janice walked over and gently pinched her cheek. “There are caretakers and nurses around. Let yourself relax a little, okay?”
Chad quietly set the gift basket of supplements on the side. Leonard had just fallen asleep.
Ariel led them into the living room outside the bedroom.
Once they had confirmed Leonard’s condition was stable, the two shared a bit of news they had picked up recently.
“We heard something interesting yesterday. Veyo just partnered with Vireon. They’re launching a joint R&D project for a new product.”
Janice crossed her arms and let out a sneer. “So basically, the two of them will collaborate while using our flight control system. Nancy is such a snake.”
Vireon Technologies specialized in new materials and had recently expanded into drone manufacturing.
In the partnership, Veyo Solutions would provide technical support in all areas except the flight control system, complementing Vireon Technologies to deliver a more complete solution.
However, Veyo Solutions was never meant to take the lead in this partnership.
Ariel raised an eyebrow. Nancy had moved quickly. Fast enough to grab a seat at the table.

“Shouldn’t Veyo be working with Nexura?”
While she had been at the hospital, Tom had already come by and secured a patent licensing deal with her.
Veyo Solutions choosing Vireon Technologies came as a bit of a surprise. After all, Jayson had always been willing to cover for Nancy.
Chad gave a knowing half–smile. “Did you really think Nexura wasn’t involved? They’ve already assigned foreign- recruited engineers to Veyo. It’s obvious they’re backing Veyo’s push for in–house development.‘
It clicked for Ariel.
Jayson was backing Nancy again.
He wanted to support Veyo Solutions in developing a new flight control system to help them break free from Faye Technologies‘ grip.

In that case, Nancy wouldn’t end up being controlled or pushed around by Faye Technologies.
Ariel let out a silent, bitter laugh.
Jayson’s intentions were crystal clear. He just couldn’t stand seeing Nancy held down by Faye Technologies.
Ariel knew Nancy inside and out now. With her current skill level and Veyo Solutions‘ existing tech base, even if they worked day and night, it would take them three years to develop a flight control system.
But if Jayson pumped in fresh talent, then maybe they coul shave off some time.
That was the luxury big corporations had.
Ariel didn’t give the partnership between Veyo Solutions and Vireon Technologies much thought.
It could’ve been any company, really. Even if she didn’t hand over the patent to Nexura Solutions, Jayson would have found a way to connect Veyo Solutions with another company.
She couldn’t care less.
But from Nancy’s perspective, having to rely on others because her own company couldn’t take the lead had to sting.
On Monday, Ariel was back at Faye Technologies.
Leonard’s condition had stabilized. From here on out, two caretakers would take shifts looking after him.
Faye Technologies‘ newly released flight control system was still riding high on industry buzz.
Following the patent licensing, they would also offer technical support to the partnering companies.
As Ariel stepped out of the World Trade Center, she ran into Nancy and Seth, who were apparently there for a meeting.
The moment Seth saw Ariel, he couldn’t help but think of Faye Technologies‘ groundbreaking patent that had shaken up the entire field. His expression twitched. Even his steps faltered a little.
Ariel didn’t spare him a second glance.
She did, however, brush right past Nancy.
Nancy didn’t stop walking. She just cast Ariel an indifferent glance with the faintest trace of a sneer tugging at her lips.
