Criminal charges?
That possibility had never even crossed Nancy’s mind. She ad assumed this was just routine questioning.
Even after getting back in the car, her hands and feet were still ice–cold.
This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. They had already filed a lawsuit against Faye Technologies. And now she was suddenly implicated and might even be facing jail time?
Terrance’s disappearance sounded more like running away now.
The police had made it clear to Nancy.
If they couldn’t find Terrance, then as the lead executive of the company and his partner, she would still be held jointly responsible, even if she hadn’t personally accused Faye Technologies of plagiarism.
And worse, Faye Technologies now claimed that the source code and parts of the technical proposal used in Veyo Solutions‘ new system were taken directly from the stolen data. That was infringement.
One bombshell after another crashed down on her.
Nancy couldn’t even hold her expression steady. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, and her thoughts were all over the place.
After all, this was the first time in her life she had faced something this serious.
If everything had gone according to plan, Ariel would have taken the fall for the plagiarism scandal and been publicly disgraced.
It took Nancy a while to pull herself together. When she finally did, she immediately sent out an order to locate Terrance as soon as possible.
Once everything was in place, she started the car. She was heading to Bluum Corp to consult Jayson.
Because criminal charges were something she couldn’t handle alone.
The moment Faye Technologies made its statement, the industry was in turmoil.
The company’s phones were ringing off the hook again. All the people who had rushed to side with Veyo Solutions before were now scrambling to flip back.
Chad had Janice filter out those calls. He only took those from partners who had stayed calm and waited for the facts.
Janice walked into the office looking like she was in a great mood. “Latest update! Nancy just showed up at the police station. She should understand how serious this is by now!”
Ariel gave a small nod. “The rest of Veyo’s staff will probably be questioned one by one. This could do a lot of damage to their reputation.”
If this had stayed at the civil lawsuit level, it would have been manageable. But now that it was’criminal.
Ariel wanted them to understand that making false claims wouldn’t come without a cost.
Chad thought it was kind of amusing. “Isn’t this what they call ‘shoot yourself in the foot‘? I already confirmed with the police. Terrance is probably on the run.”

Which meant the whole mess was now Nancy’s to clean up.

“Honestly, do you guys think Nancy just got played by Terrance?” Janice didn’t even try to hide her glee at Nancy’s misfortune
Ariel thought it was possible, but she said, “Whatever the reason, this was the only shot she had at dragging Faye Tech and me into the mud. Only she knows what she’s up to ”
Nancy probably never expected that Ariel could produce proof predating everything Terrance had.
After all, Faye Technologies‘ flight control system had only been officially launched less than a month ago, and the company itself had only been around for four years. So Terrance’s so–called evidence, which stretched back two years, looked like a sure win.
However, the priority at the moment was figuring out how her base code and parts of her technical proposal had been leaked.
Just then, Ariel’s phone buzzed. She glanced down and saw an unfamiliar number.
She didn’t think much of it and answered. “Hello, who’s this?”
There was a pause, then a familiar voice spoke, “It’s me.”
Ariel frowned and hung up immediately before Jayson could say anything else.
